"Good song choice": 5-star Brandon McCoy reacts hilariously to Caleb Holt riding the LiAngelo Ball song hype
Brandon McCoy, the overall No. 2 recruit from the Class of 2026, has reacted to Caleb Holt’s post on Instagram. The duo has previously played together in the USA Basketball U17 Team.
On Jan. 10, 2025, Holt, the 2026 overall No. 3 recruit, shared a captivating edit of his clips from the games where he is scoring, pulling smooth moves, celebrating and dunking. However, the cool edit was not what caught McCoy’s attention.
McCoy reposted the edit on his story with the caption, “Good song choice 😂😂😂”
Holt also captioned the post with the catchy hook of the LiAngelo Ball song ‘Tweaker’ which has resonated with the basketball world:
“I might swerve been that corner woahhhhhh”
Brandon McCoy and Caleb Holt are not the only ones hooked on the song. Over the past few days, several basketball personalities have reacted to the viral rap, and the song has taken over the internet.
LiAngelo Ball’s basketball career is looking for opportunities, but that hasn’t stopped him from trying out a rap career. Brothers Lonzo Ball and LaMelo Ball were previously seen playing the song in their locker rooms.
The song's infectious energy and nostalgic mid-2000s vibe have only made it more popular among athletes.
Brandon McCoy Jr. drops in rankings amid the Duke basketball recruitment hype
Brandon McCoy Jr., a five-star guard from St. John Bosco High School, dropped to No. 2 in the On3 rankings for the 2026 class. He has held the top spot earlier. The 6-foot-4, 170-pound junior visited Duke’s basketball program in November when he was ranked No. 1.
However, the drop in rankings is not a significant concern as it is more attributed to McCoy’s injury than his performance. He was sidelined for over a month due to an injury.
Regardless, McCoy remains a top target for Coach Jon Scheyer and the Blue Devils. The program had extended an offer to him back in July. Duke’s coaching staff was seen keeping up with the star’s games and also attending them.
Along with McCoy, Duke’s recruitment efforts also target his St. John Bosco teammate, Christian Collins, ranked at No. 4 among the top recruits. They are also focused on Notre Dame High School’s Tyran Stokes, who has jumped to No. 1.
As Brandon McCoy recovers from his injury, all eyes will be on his performances on the court. Fans anticipate him reclaiming his top spot, especially with Duke expressing strong interest in securing his commitment.
