"He seems bored": Hoops fans are stunned by AJ Dybantsa's nonchalance in impressive move

AJ Dybantsa, the 6-foot-9 BYU signee who is the No. 1 ranked player in the Class of 2025, has barely escaped the spotlight in the past few weeks. The five-star prospect has consistently been one of the most talked-about names in high school basketball, especially for his recruitment saga and usually for his consistently impressive performances on the court.

Dybantsa is again the subject of attention owing to a short video clip that's been making waves on social media. In the video posted on Thursday, he repeatedly dunks on opponents in a way that clearly shows his physical and technical dominance. But it wasn't just his dominant display that grabbed attention. What really sparked reactions were his expressions after each dunk.

A large portion of the comments seem to suggest that AJ Dybantsa's expression is that of nonchalance and indifference.

"he look like he bored doing ts😭," one fan tweeted.
"Bruh, you need to just sit out and enjoy the MCDAA game and get ready for BYU. He seems bored," another posted.

Some were even of the opinion that Dybantsa is unfairly dominant in high school.

"Like Jordan playing against a judo team in 89," one commented.
"Get this outta high school shi is not fair," another commented.

Some fans were, however, still livid about AJ Dybantsa's signing with BYU, as they feel a player of his caliber and talent should opt for a more reputable college program.

"And he's gonna waste his talent playing for a .500 win byu team and then going to the draft instead of maybe winning something with UNC," one fan wrote.

This season, AJ Dybantsa has consistently proven why he's the No. 1-ranked high school prospect in the country. He will definitely be a huge addition to BYU, being the highest-ranked player to ever sign with the program.

AJ Dybantsa already eyeing the NBA by signing with BYU

According to five-star prospect AJ Dybantsa, one key factor behind the decision to commit to BYU is the wealth of NBA experience within their coaching staff.

In an interview with ESPN's Stephen A. Smith, Dybantsa said that his sights are set on an NBA career, and surrounding himself with NBA experience now was a good step toward achieving his goal:

"They've got NBA staff all the way down to the dietician and strength coach, and my ultimate goal is to go to the NBA so why not surround myself a year earlier?"

AJ Dybantsa is already on track to be one of the top picks in the 2026 NBA draft. The consensus is that he will be with BYU for the required year and then go to the NBA after.
