"He wants to help this team win games just like I do": Michigan Wolverines QB shares his thoughts on star signee Bryce Underwood
Michigan Wolverines quarterback Davis Warren shared his first impressions of Bryce Underwood after the first practice session. The news of Underwood's flip from LSU to Michigan dominated the media in the weeks leading up to the early signing period.
Warren shared his thoughts about Underwood with the press after practice on Thursday. He said (1:13-1:29):
“He’s got a lot to learn, just like any freshman would. But he’s been great. Today was really his first day the (freshmen are) rolling with us. And, yeah, he wants to help this team win games, just like I do, just like everyone in this building wants to. That’s the way Coach Moore built it.”
Underwood's arrival is expected to have a direct impact on Warren's position on the Wolverines. The quarterback out of Bellville High School in Michigan was the top prospect of the 2025 class.
Despite the direct threat he poses to his position on the team, Warren sees the qualities Underwood brings to the Wolverines. He said:
“Bryce, you know, he’s, you know, started to get rolling here with us, and man, he’s a great kid, first and foremost, loves football. You can tell he’s a competitor, humble, wants to get better and I think that’s a bit of a beautiful thing, you know.”
When will Bryce Underwood play for Michigan?
The Wolverines will face rivals Alabama on New Year's Eve. However, despite practicing with the team, Bryce Underwood will not play in the game. Michigan fans will have to wait until August 2025 to see the outstanding quarterback play.
Sherrone Moore will work towards improving the program's performance and record next season. The Wolverines finished with a 7-5 regular season record in the coach’s first full season in charge. It is a far cry from 2023 when they went on to win the college football national championship.
The lot fell on Moore to build on Jim Harbaugh's legacy following the latter’s return to the NFL. Securing Bryce Underwood is a big step in ensuring that after a disappointing first season in charge.
