High School Football America 300 Ranking after Week 3: Mater Dei retains top spot amid major reshuffling

Mater Dei High School (California) continues to dominate the High School Football America 300 rankings, retaining the No. 1 spot after a convincing 31-15 victory over former No. 2 ranked Bishop Gorman (Nevada). With the win, the Monarchs are in prime position to secure their fifth national title since 2017.

Bishop Gorman’s loss dropped them to No. 3, while St. John Bosco (California) jumped to No. 2. Bishop Gorman will face No. 10 Orange Lutheran (California), who surged 24 spots after defeating No. 11 St. Frances Academy (Maryland) 15-13.

Milton (Georgia) holds its position at No. 4 and will have a match against Blessed Trinity (Georgia) on Friday. St. Thomas Aquinas (Florida) remains at No. 5 after defeating No. 45 Columbus (Florida), 42-6.

IMG Academy made a big jump to No. 6 after beating Cocoa (Florida). Duncanville (Texas) continued to advance and finally made it to No. 7 after winning against South Oak Cliff (Texas). Duncanville will meet St. Frances Academy who is currently No. 11.

The rankings saw major shifts with Blanche Ely's (Florida) 35-34 upset over Chaminade-Madonna (Florida), dropping them from No. 5 to No. 9. Corner Canyon (Utah) also fell to No. 139 after losing to Lone Peak (Utah). New teams like Long Beach Poly (California), Highland (Arizona), and Bryant (Arkansas) made significant jumps into the Top 100.

Bishop Gorman drops to No. 5 in MaxPreps rankings after loss to Mater Dei

Bishop Gorman High School dropped to No. 5 in the latest MaxPreps national high school football rankings after a 31-15 defeat to top-ranked Mater Dei (California). The Gaels entered the game ranked No. 2 but were unable to recover after Mater Dei took an early 14-0 lead.

Dash Beierly had a promising performance as Mater Dei quarterback as he finished with 13 successful throws out of 15 attempts, collected 99 yards and scored a touchdown. He also ran 49 yards. Furthermore, running back Jordon Davison recorded 99 running yards and two touchdowns.

The Monarchs' defense sacked Gorman's QBs six times and only allowed the Gaels 152 total yards. The loss ended Bishop Gorman's streak of 27 victories and brought them to 2-1 in the season. Gorman's only remaining main competitor is No. 12 Orange Lutheran (California).
