"I should set some next week": 5-star prospect Caleb Holt provides recruiting update amid interest from Kansas, Louisville and Kentucky
Schools are lining up to recruit five-star prospect Caleb Holt, who is also the No. 3 overall prospect from the Class of 2026. Even though he is still a junior, Holt has provided an update on his recruitment, talking about his plans to 247Sports on Monday.
Holt, who impressed many during last weekend's City of Palms Classic, plays for the Grayson Rams.
"Recruiting process is a great blessing to have," Caleb Holt told 247Sports. "My phone blows up, I got coaches calling, it's a great blessing to have and it's going pretty good."
While Grayson did not win the City of Palms Classic, he did get visits from coaches from some of the top schools in the country, including Kentucky, Louisville and North Carolina. However, those schools sent assistant coaches, while Kansas sent none other than head coach Bill Self himself. Regarding these visits from coaches, he said:
"It motivates me now, it motivates me even more."
Because the offers from schools have begun to pile up already, Caleb Holt was asked if he would be cutting any of them soon.
"It's still early," he said. "Recently I have been talking to Kansas, Houston, Kentucky, Louisville, Cincinnati, Georgia Tech, Baylor, Tennessee, Alabama, Auburn, Georgia has been on me pretty hard."
He then talked about scheduling visits to various schools, with the first one being Ole Miss, which was originally scheduled for Nov. 8 but was postponed due to a scheduling conflict with a game.
"I am scheduling some visits but I don't have one set currently yet," he said. "I should set some next week, whenever we get back from here. First one is Ole Miss for sure. I am supposed to make that one up so I told them I would make that one up first. Right now that will be the only one but I don't know the date yet."
Which schools are likeliest to recruit Caleb Holt right now?
While the visit from Bill Self over last weekend's City of Palms Classic got him motivated, Auburn is regarded as the favorite to recruit Caleb Holt, with On3 having the school a 32.1% chance to land him.
However, it is still very early, with Holt still not cutting any school from contention. Other schools, including Kansas, Louisville and Kentucky, can still catch up.
