"I will make sure he knows it is time to come home": Georgia DL commit Elijah Griffin aims to recruit five-star DL Justus Terry
Five-star defensive lineman Elijah Griffin committed to Georgia on Friday afternoon. After choosing Kirby Smart's program over USC and Miami, Griffin has a new target for the school's 2025 class: five-star defensive lineman Justus Terry.
"We already have a great class and a lot of top recruits are committed," Griffin told On3's Chad Simmons. "But I will get in Justus Terry's ear. I will make sure he knows it is time to come home."
Elijah Griffin is the third in-state five-star defensive prospect to choose Georgia, joining linebacker Zayden Walker and edge rusher Isaiah Gibson. Adding Terry to this lineup will be another major recruiting win for Smart and his coaching staff.
Terry attends Manchester High School in Georgia. He is ranked by On3 as the No. 7 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 2 defensive lineman in the 2025 class and the No. 3 recruit in the state.
Terry was initially committed to USC alongside Gibson, but he decommitted from the school in June. His decision came just three days after Gibson backed off his pledge from Lincoln Riley's program. Gibson committed to Georgia five days following his decommitment, but Terry has remained uncommitted and continued exploring his options.
As of now, Terry is expected to pair up with Gibson and Griffin in Georgia, as the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine gives the Bulldogs a 96.3% chance of landing his commitment.
Who could be the next target for Elijah Griffin in Georgia's 2025 class?
Elijah Griffin could recruit Auburn safety commit Eric Winters for Georgia's 2025 class. According to Chad Simmons, Georgia is heavily pursuing Winters, and Griffin could help push the Bulldogs closer to landing him. The Bulldogs this cycle already includes four-star safety Jaylan Morgan.
Besides Winters, Georgia has its eyes on another safety: Lagonza Hayward Jr., an in-state prospect and current Tennessee commit. He is ranked by the On3 Industry Rankings as the No. 119 overall prospect in the nation, the No. 10 safety in the 2025 class and the No. 13 recruit in Georgia.
Elijah Griffin, now the highest-rated prospect in Georgia’s 2025 class, is the 23rd commit for the Bulldogs. The school had been recruiting him since he was in the eighth grade and his commitment has propelled this cycle to No. 3 in the nation.
