Five-star prospect Trey McKenney ranks at the 16th spot in the 2025 ESPN 100 Recruiting Database. McKenney has received offers from plenty of colleges, including Creighton, Georgetown, Miami, Michigan, Michigan State, Notre Dame, Ohio State, Oregon, UCLA and USC.
The 6'4" small forward has been given a five-star rating by ESPN and Rivals, and a four-star rating by On3 and 247Sports. The Michigan native shared pictures from his recent visit to Michigan Wolverines. Check them out below:
Last season, McKenney became the first player from St. Mary's Preparatory who went on to seal the Gatorade Michigan Boys Basketball Player of the Year Award. He also led the school to an impressive 27-1 record, winning the Division 1 championship.
McKenney averaged 22.8 points, 10.1 rebounds and 3.3 assists per contest. Additionally, he came out clutch in the state championship game, recording a double-double with 32 points and 10 rebounds.
However, the forward has plenty of interest from other colleges as well. McKenney talked about his NBA dreams and what it would take for a college to recruit him in an interview with Ezekiel Trezavant of SI.com:
“The big thing for me is going to be the relationship a school is able to develop with my family,” McKenney said. “I’ll look at where I’ll be able to grow best as a person and as a basketball player.
"I’m trying to achieve my goal of making it to the NBA. Also, a big thing for me is going to be winning at the college level. I want to win.”
Which college has the highest chance of recruiting Trey McKenney?
A total of 11 teams have a 5.8% or more prediction percentage to recruit McKenney, according to On3.com. The list is topped by Michigan State who has an 18.2% chance of presenting him their jersey next season.
This is followed by Michigan State's state rivals Michigan Wolverines, who have a 15.2% chance of recruiting Trey McKenney. Both of these programs are 42 and 52 miles away, respectively. Georgetown, which is 449 miles away, has a 9.2% chance of signing him.
Creighton, TCU, Ohio State, Miami, Oregon, Rutgers, USC and Notre Dame have a 5.8% chance, each, of recruiting the small forward. With the race for his recruitment in advanced levels, which team do you think will we see McKenney play for next season?
