Kalen DeBoer's Alabama gets commitment of 4-star CB Zyan Gibson to 2026 recruiting class

The 2024 high school football season has concluded but recruiting has been ramping up. The early signing period for the class of 2025 took place this December and that included commitment flips, signings and other surprises in recruiting news, and it's not quite over yet. Alabama just added to their 2026 recruiting class with a commitment from a 4-star cornerback.

Zyan Gibson breakdown:

Zyan Gibson is rated as a 4-star prospect and 94th-best player in the country, 10th-best cornerback, and 7th-best player in the state of Alabama in the class of 2026 according to 247sports. He holds over 20 offers from schools like Arkansas, Auburn, Baylor, Florida, and others but ultimately decided to stay home and commit to Alabama. He took an unofficial visit to Alabama on Oct. 26, 2024, and also took a visit to Tennessee in Nov. 2024 but the Crimson Tide were able to land him.

Alabama has been known to have good defensive backs such as Dre Kirkpatrick Sr. who played football at Gadsen City High School and they may have another good player in Zyan Gibson.

In 2023, Zyan accumulated 17 total tackles and a fumble recovery in seven games played. In 2024, Zyan had 37 tackles on defense while catching four passes for 97 receiving yards and two touchdowns in eight games. Gadsen City high school finished the 2024 season with a 6-4 record. The 5-foot-11 177 pounder is a versatile athlete who excels in mutiple phases of the game.

Zyan has quick feet, speed and plays the ball well at cornerback and uses his speed and agility to his advantage as wide receiver on offense, making it difficult for defenders to keep up with him. Gibson displays athleticism and playmaking ability. Zyan is a multisport athlete competing in football, basketball and track. He clocked in at a 10.85 in the 100-meter while running a 22.19 in the 200-meter.

The Alabama Crimson Tide are currently ranked as the 39th-best football recruiting class for 2026 according to 247sports. Zyan Gibson is the only commit in the class.

Alabama finished the 2024 college football regular season with a record of 9-3 and 11th ranking in the AP Top 25. The Crimson Tide will face Michigan in the ReliaQuest Bowl on Dec. 31.
