Kalen DeBoer's Alabama offers scholarship to four-star QB commit Dia Bell to the Class of 2026

Maliha

Four-star Texas Longhorns commit Dia Bell, son of former NBA player Raja Bell, started his football career with the American Heritage varsity as an eighth grader by serving as a backup quarterback. His athleticism quickly allowed him to take over as the QB1 and become a highly sought-after recruit.

Despite Bell’s early commitment to Texas, he drew interest from Alabama as Kalen DeBoer and his coaching staff extended an offer to him for the Crimson Tide's 2026 class. On Sunday, he shared the news on X, tagging DeBoer and Alabama offensive coordinator Nick Sheridan:

"Blessed and thankful to receive an offer from @AlabamaFTBL @KalenDeBoer @FBCoachSheridan."

The 6-foot-2, 200-pound prospect put on pads for the first time when he was in third grade, and now he is one of the most highly-touted prospects in the nation. He is one of the three members of the Longhorns 2026 class, which ranks No. 1 in the Southeastern Conference with two other blue-chip prospects.

If Alabama can somehow flip Dia Bell from Texas, it will be a major recruiting win for its 2026 class, which has only one committed player: four-star cornerback Dorian Barney. The school also offered uncommitted four-star quarterback Ryder Lyons for this cycle.

Dia Bell opens up about his commitment status with Texas

Dia Bell has remained committed to the Texas Longhorns since June. While some committed juniors keep seeing other college programs, the signal-caller has his full concentration on Texas.

“I think that my relationship with Texas has only gotten stronger,” Bell said (via Touchdown Texas). “I am in constant communication with them. We watch every game live here in Florida and then I rewatch them to just focus on the offensive plays."

Bell wants to win back-to-back state championships in high school, but his American Heritage Patriots are having a rough season with a 3-3 record. The signal-caller will put in his best efforts to reach his goal. Meanwhile, he is also keeping an eye on Texas' football and has already scheduled a gameday visit.

"My schedule has made it tough to get out for a game, but, I will be at the Georgia game for sure," Bell said.

Dia Bell is ranked by the On3 Industry Ranking as the No. 16 player nationally, the No. 4 quarterback in the 2026 class and the No. 2 player in Florida. Being the son of an NBA legend, he played basketball as well growing up, and he still continues it.
