“Karma's a b*tch”: CFB fans troll former Michigan staffer Connor Stalions over 60-0 blowout loss

Connor Stalions, a former University of Michigan staff member, had a rough start in his new role as acting head coach for Detroit Mumford High School’s football team per FOX Sports. Mumford suffered a brutal 60-0 loss to Flint Hamady High School, marking Stalions' debut on a challenging note.

The crushing defeat was compounded by a heated on-field exchange between Connor Stalions and a referee, an incident that quickly spread across social media.

The outcome, however, was less than ideal, and fans wasted no time poking fun at his misfortune.

"Karma's a bitch. Have they even scored a point all year," a fan said.
“Maybe the other team had his signals?" another fan said.
"What a clown," one fan said.

Here is how other fans expressed their reaction on social media:

"Had it coming. He comes off pretty poorly in the Netflix doc," a fan said
"Broken man… can’t imagine having what he deals within his conscience… he made that bed though," another fan said.

It is important to note Mumford High School’s athletic director, Donshell English, denied the reports of Stalions serving as the head coach while talking to Free Press on Friday.

“No,” English said. “All the coaches are coaching the team.”

Despite the lopsided loss, Stalions remains optimistic, focusing on the bigger picture.

"I came to Mumford because I wanted to help flip the culture," Connor Stalions said (pet the Detroit News). They are not used to winning and I wanted to help show these guys the actual process of what it's going to take to win, because they eventually will win, and for me that's more gratifying than going to a program that's already winning."

Reflecting on the defeat, Stalions highlighted the importance of commitment, stating that he would rather work with 15 dedicated players than a larger group,

"I'd rather have 15 guys who love the process of football than 30 guys where they're kind of halfway in and halfway out, because they're driving back the 15 guys who are in," he added.

Stalions, previously at the center of an alleged sign-stealing scandal while at Michigan, joined Mumford’s staff as a volunteer defensive coordinator in August.

Hamady dominates Mumford in Connor Stalions first game

The game began disastrously when Hamady scored on its second play with a 63-yard touchdown by Devion Holloway. On the ensuing kickoff, Mumford failed to recover the ball, allowing Hamady to capitalize and score again, jumping to a 13-0 lead within six minutes.

However, a failed fourth-and-20 conversion from their own 30-yard line led to a Hamady touchdown, extending the lead to 20-0 with 2:35 left in the first quarter. Heavy rain poured as Stalions continued pacing the sidelines, encouraging his team.

Despite facing numerous fourth downs, Connor Stalions refused to punt. On a critical fourth-and-5 from their 22-yard line, Mumford threw a pick-six, giving Hamady a 40-0 lead just before halftime, triggering a running clock for the second half.

“Success doesn’t come overnight and the first three or four opponents we play are playoff teams, so the schedule is frontloaded," Connor Stalions said (per The Detroit News). "By no means is that an excuse, but we know we’re in for some dogfights at the beginning of the year and it’s about getting these guys to buy into the process.”

Mumford will look to rebound against Cass Technical High School next week, with McMichael’s return still uncertain.
