Kirby Smart's Georgia lands commitment from 4-star safety Jaylan Morgan to the class of 2025
Four-star safety Jaylan Morgan from Murfreesboro, Tennessee, announced his commitment to the Georgia Bulldogs' 2025 class on Monday afternoon. The 6-foot, 190-pound defensive back chose coach Kirby Smart's program over Alabama, Florida, Ole Miss and Mississippi State.
Morgan initially received an offer from the Bulldogs in April. He visited the school's campus in Athens in May for the scavenger hunt weekend, during which he got to spend time with Smart, safeties coach Travaris Robinson and defensive backs coach Donte Williams.
Jaylan Morgan made an official visit in June and developed bonds with fellow safety KJ Bolden, along with other players such as cornerback Demello Jones and Ellis Robinson IV. These experiences cemented his view of the Bulldogs as a "family."
“It’s like a family reunion, but competitive when I am there,” Morgan told On3. “It feels like home. It feels like I’ve known these people for a long time."
Georgia's recent success, including securing two of the last three national championships, also greatly influenced Morgan's decision.
"I wanted to be the best me possible," Jaylan Morgan told UGASports. "To be the best, you’ve got to be with the best. I feel like coach Smart has a great vision for his program on where he wants to take it.
"They want to be the next dynasty. They already are, in my eyes. I wanted to be around great players that’ll make me better every day and bring another championship home with them."
Morgan said that Georgia's ability to produce NFL talent is comparable only to Alabama under former Crimson Tide coach Nick Saban. He is optimistic about his development under Robinson and Williams, both of whom have a proven track record of sending defensive backs to the NFL.
What does Jaylan Morgan bring to the Bulldogs?
Jaylan Morgan is ranked as the No. 33 safety and No. 13 prospect in Tennessee for the 2025 class, according to On3. 247Sports lists him as the No. 26 safety and No. 6 prospect in the state. During his junior season, Morgan recorded 20 tackles and one tackle for loss. He is a track star as well, boasting an 11.77-second 100-meter dash time.
Morgan now becomes the No. 19 commitment for Georgia in the 2025 class. It includes standout players such as tight end Elyiss Williams, linebacker Jadon Perlotte, defensive back Todd Robinson, edge rusher Darren Ikinnagbon, tight end Ethan Barbour, quarterback Ryan Montgomery, offensive tackle Mason Short, running back Bo Walker and wide receiver Thomas Blackshear.
