Kyle Whittingham’s Utah outshines USC and Oregon to retain 4-star OT Aaron Dunn

Utah football has bolstered its 2025 recruiting class with a significant local commitment of Aaron Dunn. Dunn, a highly sought-after four-star offensive tackle from Spanish Fork, Utah, has pledged to play for the Utes, making him the 17th recruit and second offensive lineman in the class.

Dunn has chosen to stay close to home and join Kyle Whittingham's program. It is a major win for the Utes, especially considering the strong competition from Pac-12 rivals USC and Oregon.

"It’s an elite program," Dunn shared with On3, emphasizing his connection with the coaching staff and players. "I’m fired up to play elite football right in my backyard."

Greg Dunn, Aaron's father, noted the challenging nature of the decision, acknowledging the intense back-and-forth in choosing between Utah, Oregon and USC. He praised Utah's coaching stability, highlighting Whittingham's impressive 20-year tenure.

“Coach Whittingham has been there 20 years," he said. "The OC has a lot of years there Andy Ludwig. Coach (Jim) Harding has been there 12 years as the offensive line coach. That has to be a record in college football right now."
"He’s a great man. Utah is close to home. Easy for lots of family and friends to get to games."

This commitment is another feather in the cap for Whittingham, who has led Utah to multiple Pac-12 Championships and an undefeated season in 2008. With Aaron Dunn joining linebacker Christian Thatcher and quarterback Wyatt Becker, Utah's 2025 class is shaping to be one of its strongest yet.

Aaron Dunn’s athleticism and versatility highlight Utah's commitment

Aaron Dunn brings impressive size and athleticism to the Utes’ 2025 class. At 6-foot-7.5, Dunn’s agility and mobility, honed through his background in basketball, make him a formidable presence on the field.

"Playing elite football in my backyard for a well-established program is special for me," Dunn shared with 247Sports. Coach Jim Harding is a great developer of talent with a proven track record, and the offense is great for a player with my skill set. Coach Andy Ludwig talked me through the offense and I feel like I could be very successful in their system.”

The No. 19 offensive tackle and No. 230 overall prospect by On3 Industry is also the second-highest-rated player in Utah. His recruitment was led by Utah’s offensive line coach, Jim Harding.

During his junior year, Dunn excelled in Division 5A football and showcased his versatility in track and field. He achieved personal bests in the long jump (18-0.5) and pole vault (13-0).
