“Lane Kiffin is FEASTING right now”: Fans shocked as Ole Miss flips 5-star WR Caleb Cunningham from Alabama
Lane Kiffin and the Ole Miss Rebels achieved a landmark feat in their 2025 recruiting efforts by flipping five-star wide receiver Caleb Cunningham from Alabama.
Cunningham's switch of allegiance from the Crimson Tide to Ole Miss was announced on Wednesday, drawing all sorts of reactions from fans on social media.
An Instagram user, "elitecollegefootball" commented, “Lane Kiffin is feasting,” pointing to the coach’s impressive recruiting form.
Alabama fans, however, expressed their disappointment, criticizing the prospect's choice. One user wrote:
“if they ain't wearing crimson…”
Another Alabama fan wrote:
“Bro has to be slow. Bro goes to the school LSU beat while bama smoked LSU on Saturday 💀 💀”
On the other hand, Ole Miss fans extended a warm welcome to Cunningham. One profile hailed his commitment to the Rebels as a “smart decision.” Another wrote, “welcome home brudda,” and one more, in the spirit of Thanksgiving, wrote:
“happy Flipsgiving.”
Who is Ole Miss’ new WR commit Caleb Cunningham?
Caleb Cunningham is one of the most highly-rated football prospects of the 2025 class. The 6-foot-2, 180-pounder is the No. 2 wide receiver nationally, according to On3.
He is also the consensus top recruit of his class in Mississippi, while On3 Industry Ranking places him at No. 17 overall nationally.
Cunningham, who plays for Choctaw County High School in Ackerman, Mississippi, garnered 26 offers from top programs across the country, according to 247Sports.
The top contenders recruiting him include Alabama, Tennessee, Florida and Auburn. He pledged his commitment to Alabama, but it wasn't enough to get other programs off his back, and Ole Miss particularly pressed on.
Caleb Cunningham was present to witness Lane Kiffin's men beat the Georgia Bulldogs 28-10 over the weekend. Ole Miss’ stock as a powerhouse in the SEC rose with the important win.
It has further risen with the hijack of Cunningham from Alabama in a move that has been anticipated for a while by analysts. In landing Cunningham, the Rebels are not just adding a top in-state talent to their roster.
They are also adding a bona fide prodigy who has been described as “unstoppable in red-zone situations.” He joins four-star running back Shekai Mills-Knight, four-star safety Ladarian Cardy, and four-star cornerback Cortez Thomas as Ole Miss’ top 2025 recruits.
He has a multi-sport background, playing basketball in addition to football and track & field. In his first three seasons in high school, he compiled 114 receptions for 2,150 yards and 30 touchdowns.
