LSU commit Divine Bourrage shares 2-word reaction to Illinois signee Destiny Jackson's IG dump
Divine Bourrage, one of the four top recruits committed to Kim Mulkey's LSU, shared a wholesome reaction to Illinois signee Destiny Jackson's Instagram post. Jackson was nominated to the McDonald's High School All-American Game last week.
Jackson shared a carousel of images showcasing some highlights of playing for Whitney Young High School in Chicago, IL. Bourrage re-shared the post to her IG story with a two-word reaction.
"My heart ❤️," Bourrage captioned the story.
Jackson ranks 27th overall, eighth in the point guard position and first in Illinois. The 5-foot-6 guard received 33 offers from programs including Miami, Arizona, South Carolina, Arizona State, Illinois, Missouri and more, according to On3.
In 111 games for Whitney Young, Jackson is averaging 17.0 points, 3.5 assists and 5.7 rebounds per game.
On the other hand, Divine Bourrage won the Girls Basketball Iowa Gatorade Player of the Year 2023-24 after leading her school to a Class 5A State tournament qualifier with a 22-3 record while averaging 19.8 ppg, 9.3 rpg, 5.6 apg and 3.0 steals per game.
OWU Insights & Analytics Founder Derrick Beechum talked about the 5-foot-9 shooting guard's game in an Instagram post on Dec. 25.
"Divine is proving why she's the #1 player in Iowa and top 15 player nationally. The 6-foot-0 combo guard from Davenport North has elevated her game this season, averaging 22 points, 9 rebounds and 3 steals per game while leading her team starting with a 21 point differential," Beechum said.
Beechum also talked about her growth and named her the reason for Davenport North's success.
Why did Divine Bourrage choose LSU?
With unofficial visits to Illinois, USC, Kentucky, Missouri and Florida, Bourrage's only official visit was to LSU on Sep. 9 before committing on Sep. 12.
“I like how Kim Mulkey is with her players,” Divine Bourrage told On3 after her visit. “She’s really loving with them, and I feel that’s what a player needs. Then I’m heavy on the family aspect, and I think that’s what stood out the most.
“It’s a dream come true. I’ve been a big Kim Mulkey fan for a long time, so when they hit me up and offered me, I almost cried about that. I’ve talked to coach Mulkey a lot over the phone, and she’s big on family, so it makes sense she’s like that with her players.”
Bourrage will be joined by Grace Knox, ZaKiyah Johnson and Bella Hines next year.
