Michigan commit Bryce Underwood is a five-star recruit from the class of 2025 who plays quarterback for Belleville High School (Belleville, Michigan). Last Thursday, he announced his flip to Michigan Wolverines from LSU, grabbing headlines across the world.
The 6-foot-4 future star shared some memorable moments from his visit to Michigan, which featured his girlfriend, Diana. Underwood shared these memorable snaps on his Instagram account with the two looking delighted to be there.
Underwood also shared a crisp snap with formidable rapper Skilla Baby. The young artist hails from Detroit and is famous for his 2020 album "Carmelo Bryant."
Bryce Underwood flips to Michigan Wolverines
Bryce Underwood is ranked first as a quarterback at the state and national levels. As per On3, he boasts a NIL valuation of $2.3 million, fitting for an individual who ranks seventh in the "NIL 100" club.
Last week, he committed to play for Michigan under Sherrone Moore, which sent shockwaves through the college football world. The Michigan Wolverines reportedly offered him $12 million, compared to LSU's $1.5 million.
According to CBS Sports, Bryce Underwood's flipped commitment involved millionaire Dave Portnoy. On Tuesday, In an appearance on "The Barstool College Show," Portnoy opened up about his conversation with Michigan Alumni Jolin Ellison, partner of Larry Ellison, which resulted in Underwood's flip.
“I got a call from the Michigan football team,” Portnoy revealed. “They said, ‘Hey, there’s this donor who wants to talk to you.’ I said I’m doing this [landing Underwood] by myself, and I don’t need to talk to anybody. And they said, ‘Please, this woman is a big fan of Barstool and you; she’d love to talk to you,'" he said.
Michigan alumni and NFL legend Tom Brady also reportedly had a part in Underwood's flip to Michigan. According to CBS Sports, Brady fostered a bond with Bryce during recruitment. Brady reportedly told Underwood he would be a resource if Bryce chose the Wolverines.
Rivals' recruiting director Adam Gorney tweeted on X about Portney, Ellison's, and Brady's roles in Underwood's decision.
"Barstool's Dave Portnoy did a marketing deal with Bryce Underwood to get him to flip to Michigan, he tweeted. "Oracle billionaire Larry Ellison ponied up a reported $12 million. Tom Brady got on the phone with Underwood. This is now the craziest recruitment of all time," he said.
The decision has certainly left many feathers ruffled and could have a huge effect on both Michigan and LSU's futures.
