Omarion Robinson calls Dan Lanning’s Oregon a “winning system” following his visit
Dan Lanning's Oregon hosted Omarion Robinson, a four-star safety from Little Rock (Ark.) Parkview Magnet on June 14. Following an official visit to Oregon, Robinson sees the Ducks as the leading contender for his commitment. Speaking with On3, Robinson expressed his enthusiasm for Oregon:
"The OV with Oregon was great. They checked all my boxes."
He emphasized that despite the geographical distance, it's the 'winning system' that has him intrigued:
"The development, the great experienced coaching staff, the vibe, the brotherhood and the less distractions. Plus Oregon is a winning system and I’m a winner."
Head coach Dan Lanning and his staff have made a strong impression on Robinson, who is set to visit Oklahoma next after official visits to Arkansas and LSU earlier in the month.
Georgia also remains in contention. Robinson's official visit to Oregon is part of a larger recruiting effort by the Ducks, who are aiming to add him to their highly-ranked class. Robinson, ranked as the nation’s No. 29 safety by On3, previously visited Oregon in the spring. He was accompanied by his mother and uncle on this crucial visit.
“I’m just excited to be in Eugene,” Robinson said. “The great coaching staff they have, the development, and how they can see me fitting into their defense—it’s just a different vibe down there.”
He appreciated Hampton’s straightforward approach and his track record of developing players into NFL prospects.
“He got players to the league that came there with no stars," Robinson said. "That plays a big part."
Oregon Ducks prepare for Big Ten transition under Dan Lanning's leadership
Oregon has been highly efficient, with a 22-5 record in the past two years under the direction of head coach Dan Lanning. The Ducks are moving from Pac-12 to the Big Ten conference in 2024 and will be accompanied by UCLA, USC and Washington, which has prompted Coach Lanning to prepare himself to face new challenges alongside his coaching staff.
During a recent appearance on "The Herd," Dan Lanning said:
"Winning football starts in the trenches," Lanning told Colin Cowherd. "You have to be big up front and win the line of scrimmage. That formula doesn't change."
Dan Lanning added that the team is already studying future Big Ten opponents and planning adjustments during fall camp, rather than waiting until game week.
"You want to start to prepare for those in fall camp, so there might be a package here or two that we have to carry that's a little bit different for some of the teams we'll face," he explained.
Last season, Oregon excelled both offensively and defensively. The Ducks led the Pac-12 in passing yards (346.9), total yards (531.4), and points per game (44.2). They were second in rushing yards (184.5).
Defensively, Oregon topped the conference in passing yards allowed (215.9) and points allowed (17.3), while ranking third in rushing yards (97.5) and total yards (320.3) allowed per game. The Ducks ended their impressive 12-2 season with a commanding 45-6 win over Liberty in the Vrbo Fiesta Bowl.
