"Palistrong": Hoops fans react as Palisades Charter High School boys basketball team secures a blowout victory in first match since the L.A. fires
Palisades Charter High School made a triumphant return to the court for the first time since parts of the school were affected by the L.A. fire, which led to the evacuation of thousands of people as it spread across nearly 3,000 acres.
The Dolphins showcased their resilience with a dominant 69-45 victory over LACES on Thursday. Guards Tommy Pickens and Jack Levy stole the show, scoring 16 and 20 points, respectively. Famous basketball page NXTUP Hoops shared highlights of Pickens leading the team to victory.

Palisades Charter High School coaches talk about the game
Both the boys' and girls' teams of Palisades Charter High School secured victories on the road. The boys' team defeated LACES, while the girls' team triumphed over Fairfax with a score of 75-45.
After the blowout victory, Palisades Charter High School head coach Jeff Bryant spoke to Sports Illustrated:
“It felt as if the entire world was with us tonight,” basketball coach Jeff Bryant said. “I believe it will be like that the rest of the way. Told the guys if they want to do something for their families, go out there play hard, have fun and watch how much joy that brings their parents and community.”
Girls' head coach Adam Levine also talked about the game:
“Everyone was happy to be there,” girls coach Adam Levine said. “The Fairfax program donated the girls backpacks. They were very hospitable.”
The boys' team will face Bakersfield Christian while the girls' team will face the Berry Cardinals in their next matchups.
