Chris Henry Jr., the talented son of late NFL wide receiver Chris Henry, recently shared a touching birthday tribute to his high school football teammate, Rell Moses. The two bonded while playing together at Withrow High School in Cincinnati.
In February 2024, Henry Jr. transferred to Santa Ana’s Mater Dei, leaving behind a close-knit team at Withrow. His Instagram story featured a heartfelt shout-out to Moses, celebrating their enduring friendship.
Before the move to Mater Dei, Henry enjoyed a stellar 2023 football season with Withrow, where he earned Division II first-team all-state honors. He totaled 1,127 receiving yards and scored 10 touchdowns on 71 catches, leading his team to a 12-2 record and a regional finalist spot. Chris Henry Jr. set the school’s single-season receiving yards record and was instrumental in the Tigers' championship efforts.
He is now committed to Ohio State by word of mouth. Henry is currently the nation’s top wide receiver at 247Sports in the 2026 recruiting class. Besides, he is at the top of the list of all the positions in California's 2026 class. After his time at Withrow, he shared an emotional goodbye note, thanking coaches, teammates, and siblings in the process.
"To all my Withrow football coaches and faculty, I appreciate the development on and off the field. To my teammates, we locked in for life, we won championships and set school records this year. But, most importantly, we built a bond that will last forever."
Henry’s high school journey has seen him transfer twice, starting at West Clermont as a freshman before moving to Withrow in late 2022.
Chris Henry Jr. shines as top 2026 wide receiver, committed to Ohio State
Five-star wide receiver Chris Henry Jr. of Santa Ana (Calif.) Mater Dei is emerging as a top prospect in the 2026 recruiting class. Ranked No. 2 overall and the No. 1 wide receiver in On3’s initial 2026 rankings, Henry trails only five-star defensive end Jahkeem Stewart in ESPN's player rankings. Currently, Henry is Ohio State’s only commit for the 2026 cycle and one of just nine five-star recruits in his class.
By warrant of his prodigious sophomore year at Cincinnati Withrow, Chris Henry Jr. stood out and was awarded First-Team All-State, nodding to his brilliant efforts. He racked up 1,127 receiving yards and 10 touchdowns from 71 catches in 14 games throughout the 15.9-yard per catch and 80.5-yard per game average.
Ohio State’s wide receiver recruiting has been on fire, especially with the 2024 class. The Buckeyes signed five-star receiver Jeremiah Smith from Hollywood (Fla.) Chaminade-Madonna, who ended up as On3’s No. 1 overall prospect.
They also secured four-star Mylan Graham from New Haven (Ind.), further solidifying their wide receiver depth. Looking ahead to 2025, Ohio State has already landed one commitment at the position: four-star De’Zie Jones from Wayne (N.J.) DePaul Catholic.
