"She is a threat to Caitlin's scoring record": Fans react to Aaliyah Chavez's high school scoring dominance

Aaliyah Chavez continues to rewrite the high school basketball record books with her scoring brilliance. The No.1 recruit in the 2025 class delivered another standout performance on Tuesday, dropping 50 points in Monterey's commanding 103-42 victory over Coronado.

The scoring spree pushed Chavez past the 1,000-point mark for the fourth consecutive season, an achievement that is surely challenging to surpass.

MaxPreps celebrated the extraordinary feat on its Instagram handle on Thursday with a dedicated post highlighting Chavez's stats. The post read:

“Aaliyah Chavez of Monterey (TX) topped the 1000 mark for the fourth season in a row 😤👏. The top-ranked senior dropped 50 in a 103-42 victory, bringing her career total to 4389 points.”

Fans flooded the comment section to showcase their admiration for the young Texas girl who is taking the basketball world by storm.

One fan, probably drawing a comparison with the Purdue signee Caitlin Clark, who scored a quintuple-double against New Prairie, commented:

“Different, bro, she is a threat to Caitlin's scoring record.”

Chavez's 50-point streak isn't limited to one game alone. During the Caprock Classic, she lit up the scoreboard, tallying 53 points, including nine 3-pointers, in Monterey's 89-35 win over Pampa. Her consistent ability to take over games has left fans in awe.

One fan added:

“The best girls guard in Texas🙌🔥,”

Another joined in with:

“She is a killer on that court, many 😢👏🏿🔥🔥🔥more points to her, and praying for a great pro career!!!”

Others celebrated her relentless scoring ability, joking:

“Them girls can't do NOTHING with her 😂”

One remarked:

“She is 100% better than Angel Reese RIGHT NOW!!!”

While her skills drew much of the attention, Aaliyah Chavez's team’s jerseys also sparked admiration, with a fan noting:

“That's insane, man. Can't lie, those jerseys are fire. I’m sorry haha, I had to say it basic but super clean; love it!”

The standout shooting guard now has 1,044 points this year. On top of that, she is averaging 36 points per game this season, showcasing her dominance on the court.

Is LSU out of recruitment race for Aaliyah Chavez?

Aaliyah Chavez is undoubtedly the most sought-after high school basketball player right now. While she has received more than 20 offers, the 5-foot-9 guard narrowed her options to six colleges.

Those were Texas, Texas Tech, Oklahoma, UCLA, LSU and South Carolina. Out of the final six, LSU seems to have backed down.

Aaliyah Chavez is reportedly asking for $1 million in an NIL deal. The huge asking price for her commitment reportedly convinced Kim Mulkey and the LSU Tigers to not pursue the Texas native.

Out of the five that remain in contention, Oklahoma and UCLA seem ahead of the others in On3 predictions with 37% and 32.3% probability, respectively.
