Shedeur Sanders' High School stats: Looking at Colorado starting QB’s career before college

Shedeur Sanders, son of Pro Football Hall of Famer Deion Sanders, will enter the 2024 CFB season for Colorado under a lot of scrutiny. Sanders had a terrific high school career playing for Trinity Leadership High School in Texas.

In his three high school seasons, Sanders led his team to a 39-2 record while going unbeaten in his district. The 6-foot-1 quarterback kept on improving his play year after year and established himself as one of the best signal-callers in his class in 2021.

Throughout his three seasons at Trinity Leadership High School, Sanders passed for 8925 yards, 123 touchdowns, and just 19 interceptions. He completed 63.5% of his passes and finished with a QB rating of 128.2.

The Buffaloes' starter also improved as rusher during his high school days, scoring 11 rushing touchdowns during his junior year.

Shedeur Sanders was ranked No. 438 nationally and was rated as a three-star prospect, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He was also the 38th-best quarterback in the country and the 71st-best overall prospect from the state of Texas.

Shedeur Sanders snubbed from preseason All-American Team

The Colorado Buffaloes' starting quarterback, Shedeur Sanders, had a good individual 2023 season, despite his team posting a losing record of 4-8. Despite his impressive stats last year, the Associated Press failed to name him in any of their preseason All-American teams.

Sanders passed for 3,230 yards with 27 touchdowns and three interceptions in the 11 games he played for the Buffs last year. However, the AP committee gave the first-team All-American spot to Georgia quarterback Carson Beck and the second-team All-American spot to Oregon quarterback Dillon Gabriel.

The only Colorado player to make the AP preseason All-American teams was two-way athlete Travis Hunter. He was named to the first team as an "all-purpose player."

Shedeur Sanders will have to consistently produce at a very high level and lead his team to victories if he wants to have a shot at landing in one of these teams.

The two quarterbacks that made the All-American teams posted great numbers last year. While Gabriel passed for 3,660 yards and 30 touchdowns with six interceptions, Beck completed his pass play with 3,941 yards and 24 touchdowns with just six interceptions.

Both these QBs led their respective teams to significant Bowl games last year. Georgia and Oregon are expected to make the NCAA playoffs this year, whereas Colorado will hope to have a much more successful season in 2024.
