"This is a cool process no lie": Ex-NFL QB Teddy Bridgewater shares news about NFL and HBCU coaching offers following State Championship win
Teddy Bridgewater is reveling in the attention he's getting following his state championship triumph with Miami Northwestern (Miami, FL) on Dec 14. On Friday, the ex-NFL quarterback shared a post on X, saying.
"A new HBCU reached out to interview me today and a couple of NFL teams have been offering coaching jobs as well. This is a cool process no lie."
Bridgewater has been open about his plans to be back in the NFL. Before his team's state championship triumph, he made a post on X on Thursday, hinting at a potential NFL return.
"So many QB jobs available for me after we make this state title run," Bridgewater wrote. "I can't wait to return back to the NFL."
Following the Bulls' state championship victory, he appeared on the NFL Network show The Insiders earlier this week with Ian Rapoport and Tom Pelissero. He revealed on the shoe that he could seal a deal with an NFL franchise depending on events in the next couple of weeks. He said,
“That's the plan. My team knows that's the plan. We wanted to win a state championship and then coach goes back to the league, see what happens, and then come back February in the off season, continue coaching high school football. We'll see how it plays out.”
Teddy Bridgewater's journey from the NFL back to Miami Northwestern
Teddy Bridgewater retired from the NFL in February after 10 seasons, which saw him play in Minnesota, New Orleans, Carolina, Denver, Miami and Detroit.
He was immediately named the head coach of the Northwestern Bulls with a mandate to rebuild a program after finishing below the .500 mark in 2023. The veteran quarterback led the program to a 12-2 record and a state championship win.
The 32-year-old is being speculated to return to the league either as a player or a coach. He featured for Miami Northwestern in the late 2000s. He took over the starting quarterback spot from Jacory Harris in 2007.
Bridgewater was rated four-star as a recruit out of high school and ranked the No. 6 dual-threat quarterback per Rivals.com. He committed to the Miami Hurricanes in June 2010 before flipping his commitment to Louisville in November 2010 after Miami fired coach Randy Shannon.
