"Top five him now": Hoops fans react to Arkansas Razorback signee Darius Acuff's clutch moment for IMG Academy
No. 10 recruit in the class of 2025, Darius Acuff, made his commitment to Arkansas officially on Jul. 26. He will join the Razorbacks next season. Meanwhile, he continues to produce stellar performances for his high school, IMG Academy. Acuff, who is ranked the second-best guard in the nation, helped rally his team to an 81-78 double-overtime nail-biter from being 13-points down at halftime.
The Detroit, MI native scored 38 points, including the game-winning three-pointer on 73.3% shooting, dished out four assists, and had six rebounds in the match against Faith Family Academy at the City of Palms Classic on Thursday. Sports Center NEXT took to Instagram to share some highlights of the five-star recruit:
Hoops fans, including the 2008 NBA Champ Kendrick Perkins, took to the comment section to react to Acuff's performance:
"top five him now," commented a fan.
"Almost Had half his team points," a fan pointed out.
"Man get this man a contract he don't need no college film," a fan said.
Perkins said that Acuff reminded him of two-time NBA champion Jrue Holiday:
"Young man is a straight Killa. His Game reminds of Jrue Holiday. 🔥"
Another fan talked about Acuff's history:
"Just knowing the behind story behind this is amazing .. He have the blood of 2 amazing parents who both used to play basketball at at top notch skill level... How good is Darius Acuff?
Acuff played his first two seasons of high school basketball at Cass Technical High School. He earned the 2022 honorable mention Associated Press (AP) all-state honoree in his freshman year and averaged 21.4 points and 5.7 assists to lead his team to a state championship.
The No. 3 player in Florida also won the gold medal for Team USA at the FIBA Under-18 AmeriCup in Argentina.
He will now join Meleek Thomas and Isaiah Sealy at John Calipari's side.
