USC QB commit Julian Lewis takes center stage in race for the Georgia high school football MVP
Four-star USC quarterback commit Julian Lewis is making headlines with his dominant performances for his high school team, the Carrollton Trojans. Carrollton is ranked No. 7 in the nation by MaxPreps. As of Week 7 in the high school football season, Lewis is emerging as the clear favorite for Georgia's high school football MVP by leading Carrollton to a 7-0 record.
Lewis has proven himself to be the top passer in the Peach State by amassing 1,702 yards and 27 touchdowns over seven games while completing nearly 80% of his passes.
On Oct. 4, Julian Lewis threw for 325 yards and six touchdowns in Carrollton’s 63-27 win over Westlake. He completed 81 percent of his passes in that game, marking the second time this season he has thrown six touchdowns in a single contest.
One of the quarterback's most impressive showings this season came during a 44-22 win over Rome on Sept. 30, where he completed 30-of-35 passes for 352 yards and five touchdowns, along with a rushing touchdown. The Trojans will host Chapel Hill on Friday.
Other players in the MVP contention in Georgia are running back Zayden Cook as well as quarterbacks Todd Robinson, Luke Nickel and Antwann Hill Jr.
Julian Lewis is set to visit USC again this weekend
USC may have stumbled in their week six matchup against Minnesota this past weekend by suffering a 24-17 road loss to fall to 3-2 on the season, but the team is already looking ahead with confidence. The Trojans will have the opportunity to bounce back this weekend in a crucial game against Penn State at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum.
This weekend’s game is expected to attract a star-studded group of future talent, especially from the Southeast. Headlining the group is Julian Lewis, who has already visited during the Trojans' 38-21 win over Wisconsin on Sept. 28.
Joining Lewis for this game will be several other USC commits, including four-star linebacker Matai Tagoa'i, four-star edge rusher Hayden Lowe, three-star offensive tackle Elijah Vaikona and three-star defensive back Shamar Arnoux.
Uncommitted prospects will be there as well, with four-star defensive back Nassir McCoy and four-star linebacker Anthony Davis among the key names USC is hoping to impress.
