WATCH: 4-star prospect Jamier Jones' electric performance at the City of Palms Classic
No. 39 recruit in the class of 2025, Jamier Jones, continues to perform at a high level for Oak Ridge High School. The Providence commit helped his team to a 103-61 win over Bishop McNamara in the City of Palms Classic on Thursday at Suncoast Credit Union Arena.
Jones showed his athleticism and scoring prowess in the match as he scored 25 points, grabbed eight rebounds, dished out nine assists, and stole the ball five times. Famous basketball page 'Ballislife,' posted highlights of Jones' game:
"Jamier Jones was dunking everything and put up an easy 25 pts at the City of Palms today 😤 @_thejamierjones @cityofpalmsclassic," the post's caption said.
Jones was accompanied by Treyvon Maddonx as the duo racked up 31 points at halftime. Maddonx finished the match with 25 points. Oak Ridge coach Steven Reece talked about the game, commending the players' energy and intensity:
“Our defense, we came right out of the gate with the defensive intensity, and then the offense started coming,” Reece said.
“I thought our guys did a really good job of bringing that energy today. I thought as a unit, everybody was rotating. Everybody was engaged on the defensive end, which led to a lot of wide open shots on the offensive end,” Reece added.
With this win, Jones' school improved to a 6-1 record, and they advanced to the City of Palms Classic quarterfinals against Owasso (Okla.). Last season, in his junior year, Jones played 24 games and posted averages of 19.2 points, 8.5 rebounds, 3.2 assists per game, 1.2 steals, and 0.5 blocks per contest.
Jamier Jones talks about choosing Providence
The four-star recruit had plenty of offers from top programs, including UCF, South Carolina, LSU, Houston, and more. However, he chose the Friars on May 12. While talking with On3, Jones spoke about what attracted him to the program:
“The loyalty of coach English and the coaching staff. I wouldn’t want to trust any other coaching staff to get me to where I want to be which is the NBA. Everything those guys have been telling me sounds great and I’m just ready to work hard and do what I do to reach my goal!”
He also left a message for the Providence fans:
“Man, I love that fan base so much it’s crazy! I’M COMING!! PC fans grab your popcorn and your drink because every night it’s going to be the best movie you guys have ever seen. That’s not just me but the team. Go Friars!”
Jamier Jones will be accompanied by Jaylen Harrell in the 2025 class next year.
