Watch: Orlando Magic PG Anthony Black's brother Beckham Black go up against AJ Dybantsa's Utah Prep
Duncanville may have lost its Saturday game to AJ Dybantsa-led Utah Prep, but 6-foot-2 point guard Beckham Black, brother of Orlando Magic's Anthony Black, still gave an impressive performance. The sophomore scored 14 points in the contest and left Instagram engulfed with highlights of his plays.
One video shows the 16-year-old sinking buckets with ease and dropping smooth three-pointers. His ball-handling and dribbling skills were also on full display, as he was dashing through players and making precise passes.
The game, which ended 84-70, was not really a surprising loss for the Duncanville Panthers, as they went up against a highly rated Utah Prep team that came into the matchup as the favorites on paper. However, despite Utah Prep holding the upper hand for most of the game, the Panthers put up a spirited fight to keep the match-up competitive, and the final scoreline respectable.
At halftime, the Panthers were only trailing by four points, with a 43-39 scoreline. However, by the end of the third quarter, Utah had extended its lead to 13 points, finishing 63-50. Although Duncanville outscored Utah in the fourth quarter, it could only cut the deficit to six points as Utah maintained its composure.
No. 1-ranked BYU commit AJ Dybantsa was the difference-maker. He delivered a dominant performance, scoring 26 points and 10 rebounds to lead Utah Prep to victory.
The win, which extended Utah Prep's record to 9-4, marked their final game of the year, as their next match-up will be against Dynamic Prep on Jan. 10. The Panthers, on the other hand, will hope to bounce back with a victory against Lancaster on Tuesday.
AJ Dybantsa speaks on the win against Beckham Black's Duncanville
Fresh off announcing his commitment to the BYU Cougars, AJ Dybantsa has understandably been the center of attention in the media, as reporters wasted no time micing him up after the victory over Beckham Black's Duncanville.
The win helped Utah Prep bounce back from two-straight losses against Prolific Prep and Dream City, about which, Dybantsa said:
"It was a good performance, but we won, and that's all that matters. We're improving. We've lost a couple games, but (tonight) we bounced back."
AJ Dybantsa's double-double performance further shows why he remains the No. 1 ranked player in high school basketball.
