WATCH: SMU Mustangs signees Jermaine O'Neal Jr. and Jaden Toombs cruise to victory over Mikel Brown Jr.'s DME at City of Palms Classic

Class of 2025 prospects Jermaine O'Neal Jr. and Jaden Toombs will play for the SMU Mustangs next season. Meanwhile, they continue to produce stellar performances for Dynamic Prep.

The four-star rated recruits led Dynamic Prep to a 78-67 win over DME Academy at the City of Palms Classic Basketball Tournament on Friday.

Toombs and O'Neal combined to score 43 points. Slam High School shared some game highlights on Instagram.

"Jaden Toombs and Jermaine O’Neal Jr. combined for 43 to beat Mikel Brown Jr. and DME last night 🌴🚨 @shotbysep @cityofpalmsclassic," they captioned the post.

DME Academy lost despite a strong showing by Brown with 25 points, seven rebounds and five assists. As for Dynamic Prep, Toombs had 23 points and seven rebounds and is now averaging 15.3 points per game. O'Neal Jr. recorded 20 points on 53.8% shooting.

This win marked Dynamic Prep's (15-3) sixth straight win. They have now won 12 of their last 13 games.

Jaden Toombs, a 6-foot-9 center from Dallas, Texas, received offers from colleges including Texas Tech, Alabama, Miami and Virginia before committing to the Mustangs on Nov. 25.

Meanwhile, 6-foot-5 small forward Jermaine O'Neal garnered offers from Arkansas, Tennessee, Missouri and Vanderbilt before deciding to join Andy Enfield's team on Sept. 18.


Why did Jaden Toombs and Jermaine O'Neal choose the Mustangs?

Ranked 46th in the nation, fourth in the center position and Texas, Toombs talked about his fit at SMU.

“They got a new coaching staff with coach Enfield and they just moved to the ACC,” Toombs told On3 in September. “I like how he translated the bigs he’s had.”

Jermaine O'Neal Jr. is ranked 114th nationally, 25th in the small forward position and ninth in Texas. He spoke about his visit to SMU while talking to On3 and commended the coaching staff:

“The visit went great,” O’Neal told On3 in September. “I love the coaching staff and how they appreciate me for me. I love the school and everything they’re building there especially since they’re now in the ACC. So in all it was a very good visit.”

The duo will be accompanied by Nigel Walls and BJ Davis-Ray next season.
