Top 3 high school players who committed to Steve Sarkisian's Texas Longhorns in the class of 2025 ft. Kaliq Lockett

Steve Sarkisian and the Texas Longhorns landed a massive commitment from wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, the 2025 five-star recruit from Sachse High School, Texas. He became the Longhorns' 17th commit from the class of 2025 and their most coveted one yet.

Texas' class of 2025 is currently ranked no.12 in the country. They have secured 17 commitments so far and have extended 184 offers to some of the best high school football players in the country.

The Texas Longhorns are set to land some more talented prospects from the class and will look to improve their overall ranking.

Top three high school players who committed to the Texas Longhorns

#3 Elijah Barnes

The four-star recruit from Skyline High School, Elijah Barnes announced his commitment to the Texas Longhorns in April this year. The 6-foot-1.5 linebacker chose Texas over other top schools such as Florida State, Texas A&M, LSU, Ohio State, Oregon and Auburn.

Barnes spoke about his decision to commit to the Longhorns.

"Texas is going to the SEC and the train is rolling," Barnes told Inside Texas back in April. "Texas is on the cusp of winning a national championship and they need more dogs to join, and I am one of those. Just felt it was the right place and fit for me."

The four-star recruit is ranked No. 85 nationally and is the ninth-best linebacker from the class of 2025, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the 16th-best overall prospect from the state of Texas.

#2 Lance Jackson

Lance Jackson, the four-star defensive lineman from Pleasant Grove High School, is another 2025 prospect who pledged his commitment to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-foot-5 defenseman announced his commitment in January this year. He chose the Longhorns over finalists Arkansas, Tennessee and Texas A&M.

Jackson spoke about his commitment and the Texas Longhorns coaching staff.

"I just know they will get me to my full potential," the four-star recruit told On3. "I love the way coach PK (Pete Kwiatkowski) and coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian)... When my brother was getting recruited by him when he was at Washington, it was one of his favorite recruiters as well. I love the town of Austin and just know it’s where I want to be."

Jackson is ranked No. 37 nationally and is the second-best edge rusher from the class of 2025, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the 11th-best overall recruit from his home state of Texas.

#1 Kaliq Lockett

Kaliq Lockett, the five-star recruit from Texas, became the highest-ranked wide receiver in the Steve Sarkisian era to commit to the Texas Longhorns. The 6-foot-2 athlete from Sachse High School chose the Longhorns over Alabama, Florida State, Texas A&M and LSU among others.

Lockett spoke about the reason behind his commitment and building a relationship with his new head coach.

"What’s not to like about Texas? We’re up-and-coming Wide Receiver U!" Lockett told Inside Texas. "It’s a blessing in and of itself... There were times when I didn’t even think Texas was going to be the school. But we got it done.
"Man, I’ve been building a relationship with Coach Sark (Steve Sarkisian) since I was a freshman," he further continued. "He wanted to see how I would develop as a player and how I would develop as a person. I fit the Texas mold. Hook ‘Em all the way."

Lockett is ranked no.17 in the country and is the third-best player at his position, as per On3 Industry Rankings. He is also the sixth-best overall prospect from his home state of Texas.
