Top 3 landing spots for 4-star WR Phillip Wright to the class of 2025 ft. LSU

Maliha

Four-star wide receiver Phillip Wright, from Destrehan High School in Destrehan, Louisiana, is one of the most promising prospects in the 2025 class. Wright is rated as the No. 65 wide receiver in the country and the No. 18 prospect in Louisiana by 247Sports.

Phillip Wright helped Destrehan to an 11-1 record and a Louisiana Division I non-select state quarterfinal appearance as a junior. In his sophomore year, he was part of the team that went 15-0 and won the Louisiana Division I non-select state championship. He also excels on the track, proving his speed with a 10.46-second 100-meter dash and a 21.41-second 200-meter sprint.

Let's see which three programs have the most potential to earn Wright's pledge.

Top 3 programs vying for Phillip Wright's commitment

#3. Georgia

Georgia has made a strong push for Wright’s commitment, as evidenced by his recent visit to Athens. In July, he was joined by several other 2025 class prospects, including four-star running back Ousmane Kromah and four-star offensive lineman Cortez Smith, among others.

Georgia’s 2025 class is currently ranked No. 4 nationally and No. 3 in the SEC, featuring a roster of blue-chip talent like Isaiah Gibson and Elyiss Williams.

The Bulldogs’ impressive recruiting class could be a major factor in Phillip Wright’s decision, as the program consistently attracts top-tier prospects. The program's recent success in recruiting and its ability to develop NFL-caliber talent could be enticing for Wright.

#2. Michigan

Wright’s commitment to Michigan on July 13 was a huge development in his recruitment, reflecting his strong relationship with wide receivers coach Ron Bellamy. Wright spoke highly of coach Bellamy and noted their easy connection due to their shared Louisiana roots.

With Michigan’s 2025 class currently featuring only one wide receiver commit, Jacob Washington, the Wolverines are actively pursuing other top targets like four-star prospects Andrew Marsh and Jerome Myles. Despite Wright’s de-commitment, the Wolverines remain a strong contender, with the possibility of flipping Wright back into their class.

Michigan’s commitment to building a robust wide receiver room can make it an interesting option for Wright if the program can reestablish its position as a serious contender.

#1. LSU

As a Louisiana native, LSU has emerged as the clear favorite for Phillip Wright’s commitment, with a 96.7% chance, according to the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. LSU’s efforts to secure Wright’s pledge were evident during his visit to Baton Rouge for the Bayou Splash recruiting event in late July.

The Tigers have already secured commitments from two wide receivers, TaRon Francis and Derek Meadows, but they are keen to add more talent to their roster.

Phillip Wright’s teammate, Jhase Thomas, committed to LSU in July. The Tigers’ 2025 class currently ranks No. 3 nationally and No. 2 in the SEC, featuring elite prospects like Bryce Underwood and DJ Pickett. The strong local ties and the opportunity to stay close to home could play a huge role in Wright’s final decision.
