Top 5 CFB signings from Texas ft. Crimson Tide's Keelon Russell
Reviewing the 2025 recruiting cycle cannot be complete without a mention of the signings from Texas. The state is one of the nation’s top ones in football talent development. Nothing shows this more than the sheer number of Texas kids who get offered college football scholarships.
From this multitude, here are our top five college football signings from Texas in the 2025 class.
#5, Michael Fasusi (OT, Oklahoma Sooners)
Michael Fasusi signed with the Oklahoma Sooners on Dec. 4 after being heavily recruited by their rivals, the Texas Longhorns. The race to sign the standout offensive tackle went on until weeks before his signing when he visited the 40 Acres.
Fasusi ignored the major in-state programs, Texas and Texas A&M, in favor of the Sooners. This confirmed the program’s appeal to young talents despite this season's struggles on the field.
On3 ranked Fasusi at No. 13 overall in the country and No. 2 at offensive tackle. The 6-foot-6, 310-pound prospect is the No. 5 player in the state of Texas.
#4, Jonah Williams (S, Texas Longhorns)
Texas managed to keep the top safety prospect of the 2025 class, Jonah Williams, within the state. Not only is he the top defensive prospect among the 2025 signings from Texas, but he is also the consensus No. 1 safety nationwide. Williams is a product of Ball High School in Galveston, Texas.
Standing at 6-3 and weighing 206, he has a commanding physical presence on defense, which he uses to his advantage.
#3, Devin Sanchez (CB, Ohio State Buckeyes)
North Shore (Houston) cornerback Devin Sanchez has been part of his team’s run to the Class 6A Division I semifinal, where it lost to Austin Westlake. The Ohio State signee has been praised as one of the fastest players in the state, reaching a personal record of 10.8 seconds in the 100 meters.
Sanchez has an athletic legacy, with his mom having run track and his dad having played football.
#2, Dakorien Moore (WR, Oregon Ducks)
Dakorien Moore is the nation’s undisputed top wide receiver, holding a place as one of the top college football signings from Texas in his class. The 17-year-old prodigy from state and national powerhouse Duncanville signed with the Oregon Ducks over Texas, LSU and Ohio State.
He and Duncanville crashed out of the Class 6A Division I semifinal game against North Crowley following a tense game.
#1, Keelon Russell (QB, Alabama Crimson Tide)
Keelon Russell won the Gatorade National Football Player of the Year award earlier this month, putting a befitting end to an incredible season for the quarterback. The five-star prospect from Duncanville flipped his commitment from SMU to Alabama earlier in the year, joining other signings from Texas headed outside the state.
He is expected to succeed another Texan, Jalen Milroe, as the Crimson Tide’s starting quarterback.
