Where was Time Cut filmed? All shooting locations explored
Time Cut is the latest and upcoming American sci-fi thriller movie from Netflix. The plot of the movie follows a high school teenager Lucy who travels back in time hoping to undo a grave crime that has haunted her for the most part of her life.
Lucy Field never got to meet her older sister, Summer, because she was a victim of a masked killer in 2003. So, when Lucy discovers a time machine, she travels back to the same year to try and save her sister from the serial killer who was never caught in the future.
When Lucy meets her sister in the past, she tells her everything and gathers allies to prepare to change the timeline, even if it means creating a ripple effect that could have potentially devastating consequences in the space-time continuum. Time Cut is set to release on the streaming platform on Wednesday, October 30, 2024.
Filming locations of Time Cut explored
Time Cut was primarily filmed in the province of Manitoba. The principal photography for the movie began on July 6, 2021, and wrapped up by August 2021. Here's a detailed view of the filming locations of the Netflix sci-fi movie.
Winnipeg, Manitoba
A major part of the filming of Time Cut happened in Winnipeg and its surrounding towns. Winnipeg is the capital city of Manitoba and is a popular filming destination, as it has a diverse landscape, including dense urban backdrops as well as small-town locales, adding to the eerie and suspenseful tone of the movie.
The mall seen in the trailer of the movie, with a giant clock and escalators, is the Portage Place shopping center on 393 Portage Avenue. Given that the movie was filmed during the COVID-19 lockdown, the crew likely had an easy time shooting the desolate sequences in the mall where the killer goes after one of its victims.
However given that the movie was shot during the lockdown, filming required the participation of hundreds of extras, which came with its own challenges, as everyone had to be tested for COVID-19, and safety protocols were required to be followed.
Selkirk, Manitoba
Selkirk in Manitoba is located towards the northeast of Winnipeg. The place offers a quaint cityscape and is featured prominently in Time Cut.
The rusty blue steel bridge seen in the film is the Selkirk Lift Bridge, which spans the Red River. Multiple sequences of the film, including the scenes of a police car driving with sirens wailing and Lucy running across a bridge were shot on the Vertical-Lift Bridge, which was constructed as a relief project by the government during the Great Depression.
Stonewall, Manitoba
Another major filming location of Time Cut was Stonewall, located north of Winnipeg. The location was used to capture many of the exterior locations seen in the movie.
Sweetly High School, where Summer used to go, is The Collège Stonewall Collegiate in Stonewall, located at 297 5 Street West. As filming happened during the summer break and the lockdown was in place, the production team had unfettered access to the school grounds.
Stonewall is a popular shooting destination. Projects like Silent Night, Winner and Lifetime’s The Girl Who Escaped: The Kara Robinson Story, were shot here.
