3 most disappointing Vancouver Canucks players from 5-4 OT loss to Ottawa Senators feat. Kevin Lankinen
The Vancouver Canucks entered Saturday night's contest against the visiting Ottawa Senators at Rogers Arena looking to break a two-game winless skid. They had dropped games to the Utah Hockey Club and Vegas Golden Knights in their last two outings.
Unfortunately for them, their losing streak was extended by the Senators, who won 5-4 in a back-and-forth affair that reached overtime. The Senators improved their record to 18-13-2, while the Canucks fell to 16-10-7.
Claude Giroux and Shane Pinto opened the scoring for the Senators, who are attempting to put some distance between themselves and their competition in the Atlantic Division.
However, the game was quickly tied thanks to a pair of quick goals from Brock Boeser and captain Quinn Hughes.
But just 4:24 into the second period, Pinto struck again for his sixth goal of the season. Later in the period, Jake DeBrusk scored to knot the score once again.
Not to be outdone, the Senators secured the go-ahead goal from Josh Norris on the power play. Taking their lead into the third period, the Senators weren’t able to prevent Vancouver from tying things up again, as Boeser scored his second of the game at the 15:10 mark.
Just 15 seconds into overtime, Jake Sanderson delivered the knockout punch and secured the extra point for the Senators.

#1. Kevin Lankinen
The Vancouver Canucks goaltender, who filled in admirably for Thatcher Demko and emerged as the de facto starter, had one of his least effective outings since joining Vancouver.
He allowed five goals on just 20 shots, with at least two of the goals he will want another opportunity on. His .750 save percentage will be hard to overlook, and he'll want to put this game behind him as quickly as possible.
#2. Noah Juulson
The only Vancouver Canucks defenseman to finish with a minus-2 rating, Juulson was also guilty of a turnover and took two trips to the penalty box.
#3. Danton Heinen
A complete non-factor in the loss to the Senators, Heinen not only took a costly penalty but also finished with a minus-2 rating and a giveaway.
He managed only one shot during the game — one he'll likely want to forget.
