3 podcast partner replacements for Elliotte Friedman’s 32 Thoughts podcast after Jeff Marek’s reported exit

Sportsnet’s Elliotte Friedman will be looking for a new co-host after Jeff Marek left the media giant, The Province reported. Notably, Marek’s absence from the 32 Thoughts podcast raised speculation regarding Marek’s situation with the company.

While Sportsnet has not made any official statement explaining the situation, the company chose not to comment. Meanwhile, Marek has not stated anything on the matter. But one thing is certain: Marek will no longer be a part of the 32 Thoughts Podcast.

So, that situation means Elliotte Friedman could be on the lookout for a new co-host. As such, here are three replacement suggestions that Elliotte Friedman may want to consider.

3 podcast partner replacements for Elliotte Friedman’s 32 Thoughts podcast

#3: Pierre LeBrun

LeBrun is one of the most respected voices in the NHL. He’s a true insider and often breaks news ahead of anyone else on social media and The Athletic. Like Friedman, he is well-connected within NHL circles. In short, LeBrun is about as credible as they come.

So, why not partner with two of the most influential insiders in the league? Both commentators can provide a wealth of knowledge and experience to what is already an industry-leading show. Of course, there may be contractual issues to consider before such a partnership could happen. Nevertheless, it’s a possibility Sportsnet could not pass up.

#2: Frank Seravalli

Like LeBrun, Seravalli is among the top insiders in the NHL. He’s a noted contributor on Daily Faceoff while maintaining an active presence on social media. He’s among the first to break news, providing unique insights from his sources around the league.

Seravalli currently has his own show, Daily Faceoff Live. Nevertheless, it would be an intriguing idea to have two seasoned vets like Elliotte Friedman and Frank Seravalli team up. This partnership could potentially explode, creating a massive fan base.

On the flip side, Seravalli may not want to partner with Friedman. Since Seravalli has his own show, there may be legal issues to consider. If such matters could be put aside, Friedman and Seravalli could make an awesome duo.

#1: Emily Kaplan

Kaplan has been the face of ESPN’s NHL broadcasts. She’s quickly become an influential voice in NHL circles, developing solid connections throughout the league. Her presence on television has also boosted ESPN’s ratings, making her an easily recognizable face for hockey fans.

Teaming Kaplan and Friedman could be one of the most powerful combinations. Both have their own following, sources, and insights. Plus, adding a female voice can help expand the audience base for the show.

Now, it’s unclear if Sportsnet and ESPN could work something out. However, this combination has the potential to become an entirely new way for the NHL to market the game, not just in North America but around the world.
