Nathan MacKinnon is a professional Canadian ice hockey player who plays as a center for the Colorado Avalanche in the National Hockey League, as of January 2025. He first came into the NHL at the age of 18. Before joining the National Hockey League, Nathan MacKinnon played in the Quebec Major Junior Hockey League with the Halifax Mooseheads from 2011-12. In his debut season with the Halifax Mooseheads, Nathan played 58 games and recorded 31 goals and 47 assists.

His professional career in the National Hockey League began in 2013 when he was drafted by the Colorado Avalanche. He made his debut in the same season when the Avalanche faced the Anaheim Ducks. In his debut season, Nathan MacKinnon played 84 games, where he recorded 24 goals and 39 assists the entire season. He has been selected seven times for the NHL All-Star Game. Nathan won the Lady Byng Memorial Trophy in 2020 and the Stanley Cup in 2022.
