Adam Henrique injury update: Insider hints at Oilers center's return for Game 3 against Stars

Edmonton Oilers fans have reason to be optimistic as Adam Henrique is set to return to the lineup for Game Three against the Dallas Stars. Henrique has been sidelined with a suspected ankle injury and has missed eight consecutive games since last playing against Vancouver Canucks on May 10th.

NHL Insider Jason Gregor confirmed Henrique's return, emphasizing the impact the veteran forward can have despite the time he has missed.

"Adam Henrique can be effective after the amount of time he has missed, and it is time to consider bringing Corey Perry back into the mix," Gregor said (via TSN.com).

The possibility of bringing Corey Perry and Sam Gagner into the mix was also discussed by Gregor.

"Also, you've got Sam Gagner, who's kind of waiting in the wings as well. I just talked about the Florida Panthers' bottom six, so what about the Edmonton Oilers? Their third line, especially with Foegele, Ryan McLeod, and Derek, was trending in the right direction, but in the last game, they were pretty ineffective," Gregor added.

In addition to Henrique's return, Gregor also hinted at potential lineup adjustments by head coach Kris Knoblauch.

"That's why I wonder if Knobloch is going to go to his depths and maybe shake things up. We'll find out later this morning," Gregor concluded.

Jason Gregor also shared the update on X (formerly Twitter), stating:

"Sources confirm.... Adam Henrique will return to the lineup today for the Edmonton Oilers."

Adam Henrique's absence felt as Oilers fall to Stars in Game 2

Kris Knoblauch, Edmonton Oilers faced a 3-1 loss to Dallas Stars in Game 2 of the Western Conference final, evening the series at 1-1, making the absence of Adam Henrique felt.

Despite dominating the first period, Oilers failed to capitalize on their chances. Mason Marchment scored the game-winner for Dallas early in the third period. Jamie Benn and Esa Lindell also scored for the Stars, with Jake Oettinger making 28 saves, including 15 in the first period. Connor Brown scored Edmonton's lone goal, while Stuart Skinner stopped 22 shots.

Dallas rebounded from a Game 1 loss, a pattern in their recent playoff history. Edmonton heads home for Games 3 and 4, aiming to improve their performance. Marchment's goal came after a strong defensive effort by the Stars, who blocked 22 shots.

Edmonton struggled to solve Dallas' defense, with Connor McDavid acknowledging their effectiveness. The Oilers' penalty kill remained strong, successfully defending 20 straight penalties. Edmonton looks forward to leveraging home-ice advantage to regain momentum in the series.
