Bobby McMann injury update: Leafs HC discloses forward's status after early exit
The Toronto Maple Leafs faced an injury blow when forward Bobby McMann left Wednesday's game against the Florida Panthers due to a lower-body issue. McMann was unable to finish the third period and ultimately exited the game.
Following the game, Leafs HC Craig Berube updated on McMann's condition, stating that he's currently considered day-to-day.
"Day-to-day right now. We'll have to see tomorrow how he is, but wasn't able to continue to play tonight"
Bobby McMann became the eighth player to join the team's long list of injured players, which includes captain Auston Matthews.
"It's frustrating, but hopefully we get some guys coming back here next game," Berube added.
Bobby McMann has accumulated seven points through six goals and an assist in 20 games this season. Before exiting the game, the 28-year-old clocked 10:21 minutes of ice time with 13 shifts.
Bobby McMann's Leafs suffered a heavy defeat to Panthers
On Wednesday, the Florida Panthers hosted the Toronto Maple Leafs at Amerant Bank Arena. The reigning Stanley Cup champions delivered one of their best performances in recent times, convincingly defeating the Leafs 5-1.
This victory also marked the end of their four-game losing streak. Aleksander Barkov opened the scoring for the home team by capitalizing on a powerplay at 4:46 of the first period.
Just over a minute later, Mackie Samoskevich doubled the Panthers' lead, putting them ahead 2-0 before heading into the second period. Sam Reinhart extended the lead to 3-0 at 17:04 with a shorthanded goal.
With less than two minutes remaining in the period, Mitch Marner scored an unassisted goal to help the Leafs cut the deficit to 3-1. However, this was the only goal the Leafs managed to score in the game.
In the final period, Carter Verhaeghe scored on the powerplay to make it 4-1, and Sam Bennett's empty-net goal sealed a 5-1 win for the Panthers.

Meanwhile, the Panthers improved their record to 13-9-1, sitting second in the Atlantic Division and ninth in the league standings with 27 points after 23 games. The Cats face off against the Carolina Hurricanes on Friday.
