Canadiens star calls out Ryan Reaves for going overboard with celebration post-fight

Montreal Canadiens star Michael Pezzetta got into a fight with winger Ryan Reaves during his team's 4-2 loss against Toronto Maple Leafs on April 6. During his appearance episode #300 of "The Cam & Strick Podcast," Pezzetta shared that he felt as though the celebration from Reaves after the fight went a little overboard.

"But with Reaves, both times I fought him, even though I lost, he was just running his mouth—both in the box afterward and in the media. It was frustrating. It felt like he was flaunting it as if he’d won a heavyweight title," Pezzetta said.

While he lost both the fights, he mentioned the injuries he was going through with the Canadiens at that point, as well the fact that he was a rookie.

"I was a rookie; it was my first NHL fight—let it go, man. So, that did annoy me a bit, but aside from that, everyone else has been cool ... I fought him with a separated shoulder. That’s not why I lost; I lost because he was better. But yeah."
"Yeah, for the most part, everyone I’ve fought has been super chill. A few have been straightforward, like, ‘Hey, man, I want to go.’ And I’m like, ‘Sure, let’s do it,’" Pezzetta added.

Michael Pezzetta played 61 games in the 2023-24 season with the Canadiens and contributed to 12 points in the process.

Michael Pezzetta shares his thoughts on the Quebec taxation norms

After signing a two-year deal with the Montreal Canadiens in 2023, Michael Pezzetta was surprised by the tax deductions at his new home. Pezzetta mentioned on the "Andy Strickland Podcast" on how surprised he was when he saw the deductions from his first paycheck with the Canadiens.

"I think we're like 54% tax, then you lose 40% to your agent and escrow too," Pezzetta said. "But I think escrow will be kicked back a little bit this year, so that'll be nice."

He also mentioned how his paychecks are still great compared to how much he earned when he started playing in the NHL. There seemed to be a great sense of shock from the player regarding the taxation norms, and is hopeful that the escrow getting kicked back this year shall ease his pocket.
