"Drama queen", "Vancouver media is an absolute joke": Canucks fans react to agitated Elias Pettersson's addressal of rumored rift with J.T. Miller
After the Vancouver Canucks' 5-4 loss to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, Elias Pettersson addressed rumors about a rift with J.T. Miller. When asked about the issue, Pettersson responded with clear frustration on his face.
“It’s good," Pettersson said. "I don’t know why people try and make shit up. Excuse my language, but that’s my response to it.”
Immediately, another reporter popped up a similar question. Responding to this, Pettersson said:
“Oh my god, next question.”
Pettersson's response made it clear that he wanted to move on from the rumors. He denied any issues with Miller and seemed uninterested in discussing the topic further.
The Canucks shared the clip on X (formerly Twitter), where fans reacted to Pettersson's answers. Some fans supported Elias Pettersson’s frustration, while others criticized it.
“Drama queen,” one fan said.
"The guy is laughing all the way to the bank. 11.6 million dollars to skate around the ice and do nothing." another fan said.
"Oh look another Canuck with an attitude problem who can’t handle a few questions," one fan said.
Another criticized the media for getting too personal with Elias Pettersson, saying:
“Jeff Paterson is the biggest POS. Vancouver media is an absolute joke.”
"To much media coverage on players Personal life and then it's all over social media being blown out of proportion they should be reporting on the game!!!!!! #Canucks #NHL" a fan said.
"Pretty clear he's more bothered by his lack of points and the team losing than his 'issues' with Miller. Move on from these high school questions" another fan said.
Elias Pettersson also talked about Canucks' overtime loss to the Senators
The Vancouver Canucks lost 5-4 in overtime to the Ottawa Senators on Saturday, despite rallying three times. After the game, Elias Pettersson expressed frustration with the Canucks' mistakes.
"Obviously good to battle back, but I think we shoot ourselves in the foot a little bit. I mean, power play, we can't do what we did there, letting it go," Pettersson said." But then again, we fought back. But yeah, obviously didn't get the two points"
Claude Giroux opened the scoring for Ottawa and Shane Pinto made it 2-0. Brock Boeser cut the deficit with a goal off Quinn Hughes’ pass, and Hughes tied it 2-2.
Pinto scored again early in the second to restore Ottawa’s lead. However, Jake DeBrusk's goal again tied the game 3-3. Josh Norris scored to give Ottawa a 4-3 lead, but Boeser equalized again late in the third.
In overtime, Jake Sanderson scored 15 seconds in on a setup from Tim Stutzle, sealing the win for the Senators.
