Elliotte Friedman's most controversial Star Wars opinion sparks massive debate online
NHL insider Elliotte Friedman sparked a debate with his "Star Wars" opinion on X. Star Wars is loved for its unique story and memorable characters, such as Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader. The franchise has earned over $10 billion in box office revenue.
The first movie, "A New Hope" (1977), received 10 Academy Award nominations. Star Wars includes nine main films, spin-off movies like "Rogue One," and popular Disney+ series like "The Mandalorian."
Responding to the Minnesota Wild's post asking for controversial Star Wars takes, Friedman tweeted on Wednesday:
"Rogue One is the best Star Wars movie, and second-place isn’t close."
Rogue One, released in 2016, tells the story of stealing the Death Star plans. Friedman later shared that "The Empire Strikes Back" is his second favorite. Fans reacted to Friedman's post.
Some supported Friedman’s opinion.
"Agreed. It could only be the Vader scene at the end and still be the best," another fan tweeted.
"This take is better than your Pettersson for Cozens and Bryam take," a fan tweeted.
"I’ll stand on Rogue One not only being the best Star Wars movie but also that it captures the reality of the resistance far better than the others," one fan tweeted.
However many disagreed with Friedman.
"Sources say, you're absolutely in over your head on this one," one fan tweeted.
"Elliotte, I think your forgetting the empire strikes back," a fan tweeted.
"I can't trust your opinion or takes ever again if you think anything after the original trilogy is superior. Rogue One and Revenge of the Sith are the only ones even close. But they're not better..." one fan tweeted.
Elliotte Friedman proposed crazy trade involving Elias Pettersson
Vancouver Canucks forward Elias Pettersson is on an eight-year, $92.8 million deal. On Monday, Elliotte Friedman mentioned a trade idea on the "32 Thoughts" podcast: Dylan Cozens and Bowen Byram for Pettersson.
“I want to stress this is purely in my head, who says no?" Friedman said. "[Dylan] Cozens and Bowen Byram for Pettersson. If that was proposed I think that Vancouver is more likely to say no than Buffalo.”
For now, Canucks are performing well with a 16-9-6 record and are 3rd in the Pacific Division.
