"Enough of this guy whispering and touching his face": Rangers fans rip into Mika Zibanejad for post-game presser after 3-1 loss to Hurricanes
New York Rangers fans on social media expressed their frustration with forward Mika Zibanejad for his post-game interview following the 3-1 loss to the Carolina Hurricanes at MSG on Sunday.
Despite scoring 17 seconds into the game through Jimmy Vesey, the Rangers struggled offensively, marking their 12th loss in their last 16 games, going 4-12-0.
In the post-game press conference, Zibanejad acknowledged the Rangers' strong start but pointed out that they faltered in the second period, allowing the Hurricanes to capitalize.
"Our start was good. First period was pretty good," Mika Zibanejad said. "(In the) second period, we gave them too much time, too much space, and spent way too much time in our defensive zone.
"They took advantage, and there wasn't really much of a push (from us). At the end, we had some chances. (Overall) a good start, and then we put ourselves behind," Zibanejad added.
However, Blueshirts fans seemed to be unhappy with Mika Zibanejad's post-game reaction and took to X/Twitter to react to his comments during the press conference.
One tweeted:
"Enough of this guy whispering and touching his face. can anyone else speak in the locker room?"
Another chimed in:
"The softest center the Rangers have ever had. He needs to waive his nmc."
Here are some of the other top reactions on X:
"He showed as much emotion in this interview as he did on the ice," a second fan posted.
"With all due respect, Brotha you have been bad since the start of the season. I beg enough with this game by game bullcrap and just accept it for what it is and just play a different brand of hockey. If you aren't going to change then shake the organization's hand and go elsewhere," one X user tweeted.
"He needs to go home and spend some time with the family during the holidays and stay there," another chimed in.
"If he plays tomorrow, we riot. Enough," posted another disgruntled fan.
Mika Zibanejad has racked up 21 points through six goals and 15 assists this season.
