“I believe in myself”: John Tavares makes his feelings known about representing Team Canada at 4 Nations Face-Off

John Tavares has shared his excitement about representing Team Canada at the 4 Nations Face-Off. Sidney Crosby, Nathan MacKinnon, Cale Makar, Connor McDavid, Brad Marchand and Brayden Point are on Team Canada's roster for the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. Jon Cooper will be the coach.

Tavares said, per a tweet by Leafslatest on X:

“I want to be a part of it. I believe in myself and in my game and in my ability to contribute to that team. International hockey, best-on-best, is really starting to ramp up again. So, I want to be a part of that. I believe in myself and know I can help contribute.”

Tavares has been playing well for the Toronto Maple Leafs. He had two assists on goals scored by William Nylander in a recent game against the Seattle Kraken. His performance helped the Leafs win 4–1. Tavares has been hot lately, with five points in his last two games. This includes three goals and two assists, extending his point streak to six games.

Tavares' strong play on the second line makes him crucial for the Maple Leafs' offense. He is in the last year of the seven-year, $77M contract he signed with the Maple Leafs in 2018. If the Leafs' perform well and Travers continues his form, the chances of him getting an extension will multiply.

John Tavares helped Maple Lefs' offense in dominating Kraken

John Tavares had a strong game in the Toronto Maple Leafs' 4–1 win over the Seattle Kraken. He recorded two assists, helping his team win their second straight game after defeating Winnipeg Jets earlier.

The first goal came from Matthew Knies late in the first period. Tavares won a face-off and passed to Mitch Marner. Marner quickly set up Knies for a tap-in goal. Knies has been hot lately, scoring five goals in his last six games.

In the second period, Tavares assisted William Nylander to make it 2–0.

"As the play is developing and you get into that spot, you have an idea where guys might be and you just try to put the puck in a good spot and if it doesn’t work out, it gives you a good spot to work to earn it back." Tavares said per NHL.com. "But the way developed, I thought him or Patch (Max Pacioretty) would have drifted to that side and I’m happy it worked out."

John Tavares helped Nylander again, pushing the lead to 3–0. Nylander scored twice. The Kraken got one goal in the third period, but Auston Matthews added an empty-net goal to seal the win.
