"I've been optimistic but it's time": Avs fans dejected after latest Gabriel Landeskog's rumored setback heralding much anticipated return

Avalanche fans were hopeful for Gabriel Landeskog’s return, but recent reports have lowered their expectations. The Avalanche captain, vital to Colorado’s success, faces a new setback in his recovery.

Earlier, Head Coach Jared Bednar gave limited updates on Gabriel Landeskog’s status, leaving fans wanting more clarity. With his recovery timeline still unclear, some speculate that Landeskog is rehabbing in the gym after his right knee cartilage transplant. Although he has said it’s a matter of “when, not if” he’ll return, his recovery seems harder than expected.

On Wednesday, NHL insider Adrian Dater shared on X (formerly Twitter) that Gabriel Landeskog’s setback was “significant.” Dater’s sources now say Landeskog’s return is uncertain.

"From two trusted sources: Landeskog setback was “significant”. A return at all is in real question. I hope this turns out to be WRONG. He doesn’t deserve this," Dater tweeted.

After the post, NHL fans began reacting to the news on X.

"I’ve been optimistic but it’s time," one fan shared.
"They wasted their championship window on him. Time to blow this team up," another fan voiced frustration about the team’s focus on Gabriel Landeskog.
"Not at all surprising given his lack of activity/radio silence since the season started. Just really terrible, but everyone needs to move on at this point. Get him in the front office and give Cale the C," one X user said.

Take a look at some more reactions from on X.

"I think the Avs need to start focusing on moving forward without him," a fan said.
"It's over and has been for some time. Great player, great captain, unfortunate ending," another fan commented.
"That fu**ing sucks. He’s worked SO hard. I’d give anything to see him play in an Avs uniform one more time.," a fan tweeted.

Other missing Avalanche players apart from Gabriel Landeskog

The Colorado Avalanche had updates on injured players on Monday. Artturi Lehkonen, after shoulder surgery, played against the Seattle Kraken and scored a goal and an assist. Valeri Nichushkin, suspended last season, also practiced. He’s expected to make his debut on November 15 against the Capitals.

With a 6-7-0 record, the Avalanche need these players back to help turn things around. The Avalanche are placed 6th in the Central Division with 12 points. The division is led by the Winnipeg Jets, who have won 12 games with only a single loss and 24 points. They are followed by the Minnesota Wild at 2nd position and the Dallas Stars and St. Louis in third and fourth position.

The Avalanche lost three consecutive games after winning five. They have won over Seattle Kraken recently. Nathan MacKinnon and Cale Makar are keeping the team's playoff hopes alive.
