Zdeno Chara reflects on triathlon in Springfield
Transitioning from the ice rink to the open road, the former Bruins captain embraced the challenges of the triathlon in Springfield. Reflecting on the experience, Chara expressed his enjoyment of the camaraderie among athletes, stating to Western Mass News:
“It’s fun. You’re out there, it’s a great community being involved with other athletes.”
Acknowledging the unpredictability of Ironman competitions, Chara emphasized the need for adaptability:
“It felt good. It was a little bit different conditions obviously, something we can’t control, we had to adjust.”
Drawing parallels between hockey training and triathlon preparation, Chara highlighted the shift from explosive movements to sustained consistency:
“You know, in hockey, you have to be more explosive, and training for that repeat ability. You know, Ironmans, you’ve got to be more consistent and stay on the same page and fueling up with the nutrition and staying on top of that.
Offering words of encouragement to fellow competitors, he urged:
“Just go out there, keep running, keep biking, you know, I just encourage people to try.”
Meanwhile, Zdeno Chara will be hoping the Boston Celtics can continue their run in the NBA Finals against the Dallas Mavericks, sitting pretty at 2-0 ahead of Game 3 at American Airlines Center in Dallas on Wednesday.
