Spencer Martin, the Carolina Hurricanes goaltender, proposed to his girlfriend Danielle Jones to get married to him on July 8th. The couple was on a holiday to Italy when Martin decided to propose to Jones with the Lake Como backdrop.
The pictures were also posted by the couple on their Instagram profile. Martin was dressed in white shorts and white sneakers with a bluish-grey shirt. Jones wore a rich red backless gown. After the proposal, the couple was even posed for photos to capture the moment perfectly.
Here's what Danielle Jones commented on the post:
“We’re engaged! Feeling so blessed”
Como is located in the Lombardy region in Northern Italy with its shape like the letter Y upside down; many players of the NHL travel to this place. It can be characterized as an area of luxurious resorts, and it is located on the foothills of the Alps offering breathtaking views of the area.
Spencer Martin's long wait to get his first NHL win
Hailing from Ontario, Spencer Martin began his youth career with the midget Toronto Jr. Canadiens and was drafted into the OHL’s 2011 Priority Selection in the first round, nineteenth overall, to the Mississauga St. Michael’s Majors.
Colorado Avalanche drafted Martin 63rd overall in the 2012 draft. He signed his first pro contract, a three-year entry-level contract in 2014, and made his NHL debut on January 21, 2017.
Martin signed with the Tampa Bay Lightning in 2019. He was called up for the 2020 Stanley Cup Playoffs and was re-signed to a one-year contract in 2021. He was then traded to the Vancouver Canucks, beginning the 2021-2022 season with the Abbotsford Canucks of the AHL and joining the big squad when COVID-19 impacted their goalkeepers. Martin achieved his first NHL victory on the 27th of January 2022.
In September 2023, Spencer Martin was placed on waivers, where Columbus Blue Jackets picked him up and he started playing for them in the following October. He only played for the team for 13 games before getting placed on waivers. There the Carolina Hurricanes acquired him in January 2024.
