In Photos: Matthew Tkachuk and T.J. Oshie showcase their golf skills at the ACC Championship during the offseason
Florida Panthers forward Matthew Tkachuk and Washington Capitals forward T.J. Oshie showed their golf skills at the American Century Championship (ACC) during the offseason. Tkachuk posted two pictures on Instagram, featuring himself with T.J. Oshie and Joe Pavelski.
In another video shared by Tkachuk, he was playing the perfect shot. He practiced the club on his first two swings and then finally took his shot in the third. Tkachuk wore black trousers and a sky-blue polo shirt.
Tkachuk, a member of the 2024 Stanley Cup-winning Florida Panthers, is currently tied for 43rd place with six points.
After the first round, Oshie was tied for 41st place with Andrew Whitworth, Kyle Lowry, Chandler Parsons, and Matthew Tkachuk. Joe Pavelski, who played with T.J. Oshie and Tkachuk, is also a top contender, tied for third after round one.
Capitals defenseman John Carlson is tied for 35th place with 10 points in the ACC.
Apart from Matthew Tkachuk, NHL player Oshie marked his return to golf amid health concerns
Oshie returned to golf at the ACC event after saying last October he quit to focus on hockey. He skipped a Capitals preseason golf outing but played in the Drive Fore Kids charity tournament in late June.
Oshie has struggled with back issues, which led to him missing many games in recent years.
“I’d obviously love to keep playing," Oshie said, (via NHL Network). "I still enjoy coming to the rink every day. I feel like I still can hang in there with the young bucks out there. I hope to be back next season. If not though, super happy and proud of what I’ve been able to accomplish.”
Over the past three seasons, he's missed 92 games due to injuries. Capitals president Brian MacLellan said it's up to Oshie whether he plays in the 2024–25 season.
