“Jets, definitely” “Winnipeg or Nashville”: NHL fans left debating over the best goaltender in Central Division

NHL fans are debating who has the best goaltender in the Central Division after the League released a list of goaltending duos on Sunday. The Central Division has a mix of experienced players and young talent, who can help their team in winning the Stanley Cup.

Here's the list of Goaltenders in Central Division:

  • Colorado Avalanche: Alexandar Georgiev and Justus Annunen
  • Dallas Stars: Jake Oettinger and Casey DeSmith
  • Minnesota Wild: Marc-Andre Fleury and Filip Gustavsson
  • Nashville Predators: Juuse Saros and Scott Wedgewood
  • Utah Hockey Club: Connor Ingram and Karel Vejmelka
  • St. Louis Blues: Jordan Binnington and Joel Hofer
  • Chicago Blackhawks: Petr Mrazek and Laurent Brossoit
  • Winnipeg Jets: Connor Hellebuyck and Kaapo Kahkonen

Posting this list, NHL questioned,

"Which tendies do YOU like the best in the Central Division? 🫵"

Fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to share their opinions.

"Jets, definitely," one fan said.
"My heart says Dallas, but my head says either Winnipeg or Nashville (ugh)," another fan said.
"Well Hellebuyck just won his second Vezina, so there is that, but i do like Oettinger though. Stars should be happy. Might want to resign him sooner than later given where it looks like goalie contracts are going," a fan said.

Here are some more reactions from NHL fans on X:

"Seeing the Blackhawks goalies just made me sick to my stomach. Why would you post this," one fan said.
"The best goalie tandem in the central division is St Louis and it's not even close. Binnighton and Hofer is one of the best tandems in the whole league," another fan said.
"Hellebuyck is the best goalie, but the Blues have the best duo. Hofer is the best backup on this list, and Binner was awesome last year," one fan said.

Key concerns for NHL's Colorado Avalanche in the Central Division

The Colorado Avalanche have high expectations but also key concerns this NHL season. Missing Gabriel Landeskog and Valeri Nichushkin could hurt the team. Landeskog hasn’t played in two years, and his impact is uncertain. Nichushkin faces suspension, and his return is unclear.

The defense is talented but small. Only Josh Manson provides size on the blue line. The team prefers fast, puck-moving players, but playoff hockey is more physical. Colorado's smaller defense will likely face challenges in the postseason.

Goaltending is another concern. Alexandar Georgiev was inconsistent last season, and the team hopes backup Justus Annunen can help lighten the load.
