Joseph Woll partners with Toronto-based company to donate $5000 to Addiction and Mental Health initiative for every Maple Leafs home win
After every home victory for the Toronto Maple Leafs, Joseph Woll will donate $5,000 to the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health, one of the top Canadian mental health and addiction teaching hospitals.
Woll said of his new initiative:
"Over the past few years I've found how important mental health is & how under-talked about it is sometimes. It's a place that holds a special spot in my heart," as reported by TSN's Mark Masters.
The first home victory for Woll came on Thursday against the Seattle Kraken. The Leafs won 4-1 off the strength of a .960 save percentage from Woll and two goals from William Nylander. Auston Matthews also chipped in a goal.
He is finally healthy again and can play at the high level he used to, which could mean a lot of home victories and more than a few donations to the mental health initiative that is so near and dear to him.
Joseph Woll bounces back from injury with stellar outing
Joseph Woll returned to the Toronto Maple Leafs and didn't play all that well in his season debut. He allowed four goals to the St. Louis Blues on 26 shots in an underwhelming display.
He was much stronger in net on Thursday, and he said after the match of his return from injury via TSN:
"I think now I understand there's things you can control and there's things you can't. Sometimes when you get injuries like that, you can't really control much. At the end of the day, I know the work I put in, and I'm confident in that."
Injuries have derailed him for most of his career, but he's weathered the storm and returned to the lineup. Woll said after the game:
"A little more comfortable in my second game. Getting back into the flow of playing. I look forward to continue playing and keep finding that rhythm."
While backup Anthony Stolarz played very well in relief of Woll during the first few games of the season, Woll is back and healthy and on top of the depth chart. It's where the Leafs envisioned him before injuries got in the way.
