"Love it. Get mad and competitive": NHL fans react to Warren Foegele & Tanner Jeannot butting heads on Day 1 of Kings training camp

On the first day of LA Kings training camp, Warren Foegele and Tanner Jeannot had a clash. The sounds of pucks hitting the glass and coaches' whistles were mixed with loud thuds of players hitting the boards. This physical play marked a change in the camp's atmosphere.

Head coach Jim Hiller observed a higher intensity during the scrimmage. He noted that while fighting might be less common, the seriousness of the game stood out. Players such as Foegele and Jeannot are expected to bring this aggressive style. Defenseman Drew Doughty agreed.

LA Kings analyst Russell Morgan posted on X (formerly Twitter), saying,

"Tanner Jeannot and Warren Foegele had to be separated by Byfield after a battle in the corner."

This got many reactions from NHL fans who spoke in favor of intense training camps and the competitive spirit among the players.

"Love it. Get mad and competitive," one fan said.
"Jeannot started it. I want to like him but this was total bullshit and he better be able to shake it off. I was very pleased to see Byfield step right in and be authoritative though," another fan commented.
"I like it, something that has been sorely missing on this team for a long time," one X user said.

Fans were excited about the physical play and what it could mean for the upcoming season. Take a look at some more reactions from NHL fans on X.

"not a kings fan but I don't think this is a bad thing.. a young guy who is just coming into his own and is expected to be a future leader separating 2 vets who came in as new blood meant to raise the competition level...," a fan tweeted.
"That what happens when a former oilers player comes on the team lol," a fan commented.
"What kind of douche bag is Tanner Jeannot because there’s no way Foegs would ever start anything," a fan said.

Can the Oilers find the right fit in defense without Warren Foegele?

The Edmonton Oilers made big changes to their roster this offseason. They let go of players like Warren Foegele and Ryan McLeod. In their place, they signed new players like Jeff Skinner and Viktor Arvidsson.

During the first on-ice sessions, two defense pairings stood out: Brett Kulak with Josh Brown and Darnell Nurse with Ty Emberson.

Emberson comes from the San Jose Sharks, where he showed some talent. Now, he has a chance to perform on a better team. The Oilers will continue to evaluate these combinations during training camp to identify the best fit.
