Maple Leafs captain John Tavares and his wife Aryne share a message for fans as their charity org turns 4

On Thursday, Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares and his wife Aryne celebrated the fourth anniversary of their charity organization. They also shared a family photo on the John Tavares Foundation's Instagram page.

The picture featured the couple with their three children. John and Aryne were blessed with their first child, Jace, in 2019, and their second child, Axton, was born in 2021. Their third child arrived in April 2023. The family photo had a caption showing their gratitude and pride in the foundation's four-year achievements.

“It’s been a great 4 years since we launched our foundation! We are so proud of what we have been able to accomplish in these few years and we’re extremely grateful for all the support we’ve received.
"We wouldn’t have been able to have such an impact if it wasn’t for our donors. The belief everyone has shown in our foundation has been so inspiring. We can’t wait for what’s ahead and to continue to make the biggest impact we can. ~ John & Aryne”

John Tavares signed a seven-year contract with the Toronto Maple Leafs on July 1, 2018. In 2019, he was named captain of the Maple Leafs.

Toronto Maple Leafs captain John Tavares' contract extension talks

John Tavares is in the final year of his seven-year, $77 million contract. Despite being eligible for an extension since July 1, no new deal has been finalized. NHL analyst and former player Frankie Corrado believes the Leafs should extend Tavares with a reduced salary.

During his appearance on SC with Jay Onrait, Corrado said:

“I would, Jay, to be honest with you, I would probably try and squeeze a little bit more. Like if it means that much to you and we know that it hasn’t really worked here because the team hasn’t been able to get it done."
"Yeah, it’s like there’s probably going to be a different role waiting for you, and it would have to be less money. Like, I don’t know, if you just extend these guys. You know, now you’re saying we really believe this again and again and again,” Corrado added.

Contrary to some fans who advocate trading Tavares, Corrado sees extending him as a viable option. Tavares himself expressed a desire to remain with the Leafs after their early playoff exit, citing his love for playing.

Last season, Tavares recorded 29 goals and 34 assists for 65 points in 80 games. Over six years with the Leafs, he has amassed 184 goals and 235 assists for 419 points in 440 games.
