"McDavid at 96 speed is a joke": Chel fans bash NHL 25's Top 10 fastest players rankings
Fans reacted as EA SPORTS NHL revealed the top 10 fastest skaters in NHL 25. The rankings, posted on X (formerly Twitter), list Connor McDavid and Nathan MacKinnon as the fastest players, each with a speed rating of 96. McDavid, known for his incredible speed, leads the list again.
MacKinnon’s speed earned him a top spot alongside McDavid. Brayden Point, also rated 96, follows closely behind. Cale Makar, with a 95 rating, is the fastest defenseman.
Mathew Barzal shares Makar’s rating, rounding out the top five. Miro Heiskanen, Owen Tippett and Roope Hintz all earned a 94 rating. Ryan McLeod, rated 94, and Quinn Hughes, rated 93, complete the top-10.

EA Sports NHL 25 release date, features, and cover stars
EA Sports will release NHL 25 on October 4 for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X/S.
The game brings new features to enhance play. Players will enjoy a skill-based one-timer mechanic for better shooting control. Improved animations and CPU accuracy will make the gameplay smoother.
The presentation has also been updated with the Grudge Match System to track team rivalries. The revamped franchise mode includes new features like HUT Wildcard Mode and a simplified XP progression system.
In Hockey Ultimate Team, the Wildcard Mode introduces new gameplay rules. XP earned in various modes now contributes to a single progression path.
This year NHL 25 cover stars are Quinn, Jack and Luke Hughes. Quinn Hughes will be on the cover in Canada, while Jack Hughes will feature in the U.S. A special Deluxe Edition shows the three brothers. Pre-orders can be made on EA's website.
