NHL Rumor: Top insider claims Alexei Kolosov is on his way to join Flyers for training camp
After rumors that Alexei Kolosov, one of the top goalie prospects in hockey, would not be reporting to camp, a new report claims that he will be joining the Philadelphia Flyers very soon. Elliotte Friedman said that the team and the player are working together to come to a resolution.
Kevin Weekes also reported that the player is currently en route to Philadelphia. He is expected to arrive soon and join the team for training camp and the preseason. According to the report, the issues between the two parties are now a thing of the past.
Friedman said:
"We will see how this develops over the next few days, but there is word Philadelphia and goalie Alexei Kolosov are working on a solution to his absence. Kolosov would come over to play for a bit — exhibition games and some AHL, with agreement on a potential return to KHL if he doesn’t stay with Flyers."
Either way, the NHL reporter claimed that the team really wants Kolosov to give North America a chance. That was reportedly one of the biggest issues during his time in the AHL and a reason he wasn't keen to come to camp until now.
Alexei Kolosov poised to make appearance with Flyers
There's no telling if or when Alexei Kolosov will join the Philadelphia Flyers. He is still just 22 years old with very little experience. He also skipped development camp, rookie camp and the Flyers’ training camp this month.
He reportedly felt so homesick after just a couple of weeks in North America that he considered having his NHL contract terminated. That all seems to be a thing of the past, but it has hampered his development nonetheless.
The Flyers likely can't put him in goal for a while since he needs practice and development. It could take some time, but it does appear that the ball is rolling now. Prospects take time, and Kolosov may take more time than others due to his unique situation.
